You can have whatever feelings that you want, but the bottom line is that placing zero blame or blaming both sides still has the same net effect and doesn't single out the only side that some people and the MSM feel should have been singled out. So, it's a nice sentiment to think that not blaming anyone would have been okay, but we should both know that this is a naïve approach, and that Trump still would have been called out for not blaming the UtR peeps.

Yes, but blame for the violence would appropriately be laid at both of your feet, regardless of the severity of one over the other. Your parents would not have been wrong to condemn the actions of both of you.

If you remember a few elections back during the republican primary Ron Paul attempted to explain that 9/11 was blowback from our own actions in the Middle East and despite the fact that it was almost 10 years on from the attack, people were quite displeased to hear that - imagine if the Bush had made the same statement on Sept 12th.

Imagine if comparing a terrorist attack that killed 3,000 innocent people to a terrorist attack that killed one innocent person was appropriate. But I digress...

You are creating a strawman logical fallacy here, because in the case of the overall Charlottesville violence, both sides were guilty of participating in violence in some way. All of those people in the WTC and other deaths did nothing to the terrorists who planned the attack, at least not directly. Don't compare apples to toenails.

I highly doubt Trump is a secret NeoNazi, but the man has no sense of tact, and puts his own foot in his mouth rather regularly.

Tact is not a requirement of speaking out against violence--if people are so caught up in being tactful (I.E.: Politically Correct), then they are not adult enough to discuss such topics.

As the premise of the OP is about BLM....when in fact it is about Movement for Black Lives, staff consensus was to close this thread.
