The Dow Jones industrial average fell 177 points, hitting session lows. The index started falling earlier on fears that Gary Cohn, a business friendly advisor to the president, could resign his role as director of National Economic Council because of Trump's remarks following the violent protests in Charlottesville, VA.

"This [situation] is definitely disappointing for investors holding out hope for tax reform," Mike Baele, managing director at U.S. Bank Private Client Reserve. "It doesn't mean it's not going to happen, but it certainly" dampens the outlook.

Trump must not know or care how his words impact the nation as a whole.

Basically, when you don't denounce white supremacists, separatists, and confederates as anti-american you threaten the entire economic cycle of our country.

Bannon is totally getting what he wanted.

Of coarse the world is watching him, and his actions. Sometimes lack there of. They of coarse, have a reaction.

Could it be possible the Dow has tanked in reaction to the Barcelona attack? a reply to: HunkaHunka

Look at the Dow and the correlating times.
The Dow dropped and began to come back up. Then it dropped again some. Around the time of the attack, it dropped rapidly.

Doesn't this normally happen when attacks like this occur?
I can't verify right now but I will look it up when I get home later.

If the stock market was directly impacted by trumps comments/actions, wouldn't it have opened lower and immediately tanked?

How about Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday? Did the market react to trump then?

Yes, there may be some correlation, but I think it's a stretch to say it is solely due to trumps viewpoint/stance etc.

Yawn, wake me up when there is another digit at the end of that drop. Even then it would probably be a good thing because this market is incredibly overvalued. The DOW is at least 25% overvalued and that's probably on the low end of the overvaluation.

Well, to the left, any potential negative (no matter how small) is as news worthy as a terrorist attack.

That's what happens when you don't hand out participation trophies, which is what the GOP should have done last November. We probably wouldn't be having all these issues blown out of proportion.

Except the President and just about everyone on his staff, as well as his family, have repeatedly denounced everything you've described.

How many more times does that need to happen? 100? 1000 times?

It's like you people are allergic to telling the truth because it might not help your stupid political causes.

And you'll create another thread when the DOW goes up 177 points?...which it will. Why not just start one entitled how the Trump Presidency affects the stock market, and keep adding to it over the next 7.5 years?

7.5 years, not even you can possibly believe that? Ok.

My friends,

Perhaps the world should reflect on itself and be more concerned that they have given up control over their emotions, actions and even finances to the government, political establishments, and fringe groups so willingly.

Like the markets are even grounded in reality. They are so manipulated that they have no ties with main street anymore.

Just like the paper value of gold, completely manipulated.

This is such an idiotic position. What Orwellian horsecrap is this that people are looking for? Do we need to begin every day with a groupthink 5 minute hate where everyone needs to reaffirm their hatred and denouncement for all the unsavory characters and groups in the world each day? The idea that one must ceaselessly vocalize their denouncement of anything is so ridiculously attuned to virtue signaling that it makes the exercise seem almost childish in nature.

I saw him flatly denounce white supremacists. WHat are you talking about?

So you know what, it’s fine. You’re changing history. You’re changing culture. And you had people -- and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists -- because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. Okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly.

abcnews.go.com...

I think a more accurate statement would be "The media told me that he didn't condemn Nazi's, and I believe them more than reality".

I just saw this. Were people actually concerned about this? 177 points is barely over 3/4 of a point on the Dow. My God what it must be like to be this desperate for something negative.
