It begins! Chicago wants George Washington statue removed

Turns out Trump’s claim of the left removing George Washington and Thomas Jefferson statues was more prophetic than anyone could have imagined. Today, in Chicago, far left pastor James Dukes has requested that Rahm Emnauel remove statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson because “it’s a slap in the face to all African-Americans” because they were slave owners. Here is pastor James Dukes Facebook tweet calling for the removal of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson statues in Chicago.

Chicago pastor James Dukes has asked Mayor Rahm Emanuel to remove the names of George Washington and Andrew Jackson from parks on the south side of town.

Dukes, the pastor at Liberation Christian Center, said, “When I see that, I see a person who fought for the liberties, and I see people that fought for the justice and freedom of white America, because at that moment, we were still chattel slavery, and was three-fifths of humans. Some people out here ask me, say ‘Well, you know, he taught his slaves to read.’ That’s almost sad; the equivalent of someone who kidnaps you, that you gave them something to eat. In an African-American community, it’s a slap in the face and it’s a disgrace for them to honor someone who was a slave owner.”
The pastor also wants Andrew Jackson’s name to be removed from Jackson park because he owned slaves and even suggests it be renamed after Rev. Jesse Jackson or singer Michael Jackson.

Might be a tad off topic, but I've always believed the Right operates under a 'Thou shalt have no false idols save the ones we like" attitude. As I said earlier...scrap it, replace it with a bust of Socrates, Dawkins or even Homer Simpson. Actually, the latter sums America pretty nicely....

Can we take down all the native american stuff aswell? Close the casino's they own, I remember in school being taught some native americans had slaves aswell.

Statues of those men are probably all over the place.

George Washington's statue will never be removed. The whiney butt crybabies that can't get over the fact that the 1700's were not the 2000's need to just calm down. They want to regress to a time of hostility. The rest of us want to move on and make America great again. Somebody does not want that to happen.

The case can be argued that America already was great...or never was. I agree there is a hostile air...one I think that's been lurking under the surface for some time. If removing a silly statue helps, fine. If not, well, I'd still prefer Socrates.

The whiney babies will never be happy with the world around them because they are unhappy with themselves. So this is a never ending progression towards well you know the ending...

They should read the real ideas of the founding fathers because most of them were opposed to slavery.

The same people crying about this are the same people walking around on Iphones that exist because of child slaves in African countries at this very moment.

I said it in a couple threads already. The Bill of rights is all but disappeared, all thats left is the icons, representative of the Old Republic.

Once they do away with those, all that will be left will be the dissenters.
