No nothing to do with bird flu in the Phillipines.

When I worked briefly for Health Canada (office work) it was nothing unusual for them to always be prepping and prepared for a pandemic. I worked there 10 years ago now.

I'm glad you stepped in here. Have you heard of 'early warning system for dewline'? From what i've just found, up North has always been a supposed target for anything catastrophic, which may explain what my friend was told at work. Apparently he said it was tore up a long time ago though, and non functional. So just keeping an eye on further developments.

Interesting. I've heard of it but haven't researched it, so I'm not knowledgeable beyond the basic definition. I'll have to keep my ear out for any developments among my circle of acquaintances.

That would be really nice if you could do that. Thank you!

DEW Line is simply an acronym for distant early warning line. It was supposed to allow strategic command ample warning time for a counter attack in the event of some type of incursion. The main concern was that it would not allow for ample joint US-Canadian counter-attack response so as a result it was located remotely up north in the arctic with conventional radar. The MCL or mid Canada line ended up being basically useless as birds were overwhelming the system and rendering it ineffectual, necessitating the DEW.

In '85 or there abouts both America and Canada agreed to replace the DEW with the Northern Warning System with most of the DEW equipment being deactivated by '88.

This isn't directed at you - just saying, you really think they're given a CHOICE?

I think not.

If we're talking about a nuclear war, I'm not sure it really matters how many soldiers they have... especially if they're all crammed into such a small geographical area.

I think that could be exactly what's being planned. There are weapons that vaporize so that being said, it would be a more likely scenario rather than what we're used to regarding a nuclear fallout.

Am i worried? Not at all.

Thank you for adding that snippet to the thread

Yw! Glad to help.

I'm not worried, just concerned people aren't going to be ready for what's to come, whether nukes are used, or chemical or bio wmd's.

So the DEW has been deactivated for three decades, interesting! I'll have to relay that information.

Thanks for taking the time to post that, it's very much appreciated.

Free men or slaves, we've never really had a real choice about much of anything. Only the illusion of it. And only what we've been handed.

....if they only had uniforms, food, rifles and bullets for all of them......

The average North Korean is going to be shocked at the amount of food they will soon be getting with liberation. They will probably elect Trump Great Leader for life.

Armies that cant eat, cant fight, and thats a real issue for NK.

Which is probably part of why they decided to just say F*** it lets nuke 'em.

I don't think anyone can really prepare for something on that level. Survival would be near impossible, if anyone survived there'd be little left. People would more than likely die from lack of hope and will.

Thank you!

As Robert Frost once wrote:

'Fire and Ice'

Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

I'd prefer Ice myself over fire. But something tells me it will be somewhat quicker than that.

Sorry to disappoint you but you interpreted that wrong. I'm saying that the modern Republican led Congress, federal Executive Branch, and State govts like starving the poor so much that they don't even have a problem with Americans starving. So why should anyone believe they'd turn around and give extra food to the same North Koreans who they would hypothetically be bombing/nuking/killing?

So a Republican-led government that cuts food stamps in their own country will give extra food to North Koreans after attacking them?

Doesn't have to be prime rib.

They eat grass for heaven sakes.

A bale of hay would be a feast to them.

Propaganda. Given the cartoonish personality cult etc, I', betting that MOST Koreans aged 15-65 are considered part of the military anyway. They have always been ready, just not announced

I bet they are ready and willing to defend their homeland. Even stranger is they likely think they will free Americans from their slavery and malnutrition .
