Several details in the North Korea have me wondering if we are indeed ready for a missile strike from N. Korea. It seems our missile defense system is not what we can hope for, and the strike times leave us with 30 minutes to act.

All my life I been under the impression the U.S. has top of the line, next level tech, that would make any war last a few minutes if we wanted it to. Now, it's looking like maybe not so. What do you guys think our secret defense and offense weapons are really like?

I'm hoping for satellite lasers-that would be so cool.

I always thought a satellite shooter that can take down missiles was a thing. Apparently not.

Think UFO technology with the triangle-like craft, genuine lasers and as a last resort orbital weapons platforms. All of those things us UFO folk discuss but the straight forums on ATS never touch for some reason....

I think the USA has been bluffing in terms of defense.

I don't think they have a missle defense system any better than what is in the public domain of knowledge. There has always been this false sense of security that the USA does not need to worry too much, because the major threat of war is conventional and that takes place in the old world and South America.

The USA has always been more obsessed with offense - as is clearly shown by the number of wars it has started in overseas territory. What secret weapons it has in this area will prove to be far more intriguing. I know that they have been tinkering with lasers for a long time. Maybe they have perfected that tech.......

I don't think we really have to worry so much.

I think most of the US network of defense is spread throughout friendly countries. I think there may be some "coordination" required prior to button pushing so we at least know we are on the same page. However, I think "we" have the ability to defend ourselves from any attack the would emanate from Kim's (Not so secret) secret bunkers.

Even the rhetoric coming from NK seems a little odd. Only yesterday his official press makes a statement about attacking Guam? Seriously? You make a statement about "what you might do" prior to doing it? It smacks of Medieval "I'll meet you on the fields at noon!" He needs to understand that any satellite footage of him rolling out the big'uns will now be returned by itchy trigger fingers.

HE STANDS ZERO CHANCE OF WINNING. ZERO.

America's arsenal of weapons are truly awe inspiring. They have invested in this for a long time.
I feel for the NK soldiers. The term "Fish in a bucket" mayplay out here.
