I can hear Orwell rolling over in his grave now…

It seems Google has updated their Quality Raters Guidelines to target any article, webpage or video that does not support what they believe is the accepted and official truth. Essentially, they aim to control exactly what people believe and perceive as reality.

“The new guidelines giving a search giant so much control over the free flow of information is extremely worrying.

The guidelines instruct raters to directly confront “unsubstantiated conspiracy theories” by looking for a source that debunked them, The Sem Post reported.

The Post noted that the rules don’t specifically target and go after all “conspiracy theory” websites, only those that present a “conspiracy theory as factual information without basis.”

However, who decides what is and what isn’t real?”

“Google added an example of “unsubstantiated conspiracy theories” choosing the most wild and crazy ones out there but also labeling “the existence of aliens,” to be low-quality content.

The example they used was the alleged existence of the Sumerian 10th planet Nibiru and the conspiracy the Vatican knows about its impending crash into Earth. But then, after that, the document defined what it considers “unsubstantial conspiracy theories” which includes those challenging “well established historical facts.” But the connotation of what those historical facts would entail is not included.”

Article

Truthstream Media lays it out very well in this brief video (for some reason I cannot embed the video. Youtube ID seems to be messed up...):

It's Official: This Is Straight out of Orwell's 1984...

I’m sure many of you have noticed a heavy uptick in outlandish and unsubstantiated conspiracy articles from Flat Earth to political scandals. I noticed this trend steadily increase since the Pizzagate issue arose. I believe these are being strategically planted in the social narrative by state sponsors so to create a false perception of a necessity for this wide-ranging act of censorship. This is scary people.

Think there was something fishy about the JFK assassination? Forget it. Curious about the possibility of intelligent life in the cosmos? Out of the question. Think there might be a clandestine group of wealthy elite whose purpose is to enslave every man, woman and child through debt and depravity? If Google has any say about it you best start laying those beliefs to rest as there doesn’t seem to be much room for those lines of thinking in their “augmented humanity” paradigm…

Pretty soon we’ll be living in 1984. I don’t think anyone put it better than George:

“He who controls the past, commands the future.
He who commands the future conquers the past.”

The establishment of Trump TV seems far more Orwellian to me than this.

Google have been tweaking the way their search engine gives results since they started.

This is why Google removed the phrase "Don't Be Evil" from their company mantra.

All socialist regimes follow the same path. This is just the digital equivalent to book-burnings!

Disregarding the issue while also throwing Trump into the mix as per the status quo. Two birds one stone?

Not everyone is going to be aware of the social engineering at work here.

It's disgusting or can't you see that?

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

The path towards Socialism is exactly this.

Yea, but there is enough history to show it isn't about good intentions anymore. It is about an educational system that has been compromised to undermine western society and it's culture and values. So that leaves two issues, people who have been brain washed or those purposefully acting as hostiles to their own country.

Yes once socialism takes hold it is pass that point ... but the path taken toward socialism usually begin under the guise of good intentions. I'll edit my post to reflect this.

I'm hopeful that this will be the start of a rise in alternatives.
Its only because of their popularity that they can get away with it. Monopoly control is just fascism.
Plain as day.
I'd love to see a mass migration to alternatives and watch Guggle disappear into obscurity.

Living in hope.

We really need open source search engines and video streaming services that are not controlled by corporations or governments.

Don't like it; don't use it.

No, I was just attempting to pre-empt the inevitable 'This is what evil socialist lefties like to do', even though Google is a prime example of a capitalist company doing its thing and seeking to maximise its profits.

And yet, there's the string of comments saying Google is enacting socialist propaganda even though there is nothing even remotely socialist about Google.

That's why I'm hopeful that we will start to see arise in the alternatives and get a bit of competition.
Maybe there will be a viable alternative, I don't know but if they've overestimated their influence it may be bad for their business.

Lots of you tubers have been commenting so I've been subscribing to my favourites instead of just watching and, where possible, looking up their sites to go to the source and bypass you tube.

I'm not very technical and I'm lazy enough to just use what's in front of me. I'm guessing a lot of others are too.
Those who object may start moving so it may have some impact.
I'm open to hints on where else that would be good.

In firefox, I use some addon called Random Search Engine to not lay all the eggs in one basket.

Problem: the other search engines DO suck. Duckduckgo, Qwant, Metager, Yahoo, Bing - all are inferior to googles search results in my opinion.

So, if I have to find something very, very specific, I have to come back to google. Because the results are closer to the point, I have to admit. And that is a difficult topic to me, as I do not want to have my whole search-history with one provider.

I have noticed all the over-the-top posts designed to discredit legitimate discussion. The 9/11 forums being shut down, Sandy Hook griefers, Pizzagate shooter, Flat Earthers (that same stupid forests on earth video reposted every week for a while), Mandela Effect idiocy, it seems like there has been a deliberate effort to stupefy our forums with absurd or inappropriate posts so that all the important info involved gets drowned out.

The scary thing is its a military technique to flood the enemy with so much chaff that they cant discern the truth, get confused, and are easily overcome. Psychological warfare. Soon all conspiracies will be likened to flat earth.

About a week ago I stopped using Google as my search engine. I had enough of their 'suggested' results which I never asked for. I now use Duckduckgo, mostly for the reason that the results are far more diverse like they used to be.
If you look for controversial results, google only gives you what they [or whoever else is involved] want you to find.
Most articles will be about how whatever you look for is a hoax as top results.
On DDG, you get everything and can make up your own mind.

I so had enough of those social engineers.

Next is YouTube. Once all the interesting stuff is deemed 'terrorism related' [like anything that doesn't fit the official narrative], I'll be gone from there too.

I swear this is all very much like the old East-Germany was run.
