Final Fantasy VII Advent Children will be out for us to see this year
I just found the official web site.
www.square-enix.co.jp...
This movie is suposed to take place 2 years after the game.

I can't wait I've been a FF fan for more than 10 years.
Hopefully this will make up for the theatrical FF release a few years back.
You know... the one that had nothing to do with FF?

It was still a kick-ass movie, though.

The link looks kickass, despite being in Japanese. FFVII marked the beginning of the end for FF games. It's gotten so bad, I'm including 8 in the 'glory days'.

Yes I think its hard to beat FF6 even today with all the great things that can be done with video games.
For me it was the characterization and the storyline that made FF games so great. Good graphics help but you still have to have a captivating story to keep people playing for 40+ hours.

The Roleplaying Renaissance ended when Black Isle fell. For awhile, they churned out the BG series, neverwinter nights, icewind dale, planescape: torment... it was a grand age. NOw, it's gone, all gone.

don't you say that. don't you ever say that.

I kid... 8 wasn't THAT bad... not as bad as 9, and what is this "X 2" crap?

I'm glad Square agreed to do an FF7 movie. They've gotten to the point now where it'll pay to start reusing old storylines...

I've finally watched this movie. I nearly pissed my self like 20 times during the film. My eyes dried out because I couldn't blink. The film was unbelievable.

I'm going to go watch it again now

I've seen it too and yes it is absolutly amazing, it looks more real than most movies that put in bits of CGI like matrix and the like. The storyline was amazing too although i think if u hadnt put the 80 odd hours into the game that some did youd get a bit confused

My wife watched the movie with me, she had never played the game.
She thought it was amazing.
We still talk about it.

Well I've watched the Japanese version so far, and it's absolutely amazing. Beautiful picture. Though I think they hit a few kinks with the added storyline; from what I understand it is impossible for Sephiroth to die as long as Jenova cells remain in existence? Other than that, absolutely excellent; I think they kind of actually took of a chunk of the life that the game had, and morphed it into more of a translation of their world within our world. Does anyone know when this is released in the US on DVD and PSP?

Subbed.

Excellent Film, not sure how many "non FF players" would like it, but as a fan I enjoyed the hell out of it. I loved the part after the fight in the church, with the ringtone......very clever

I watched a subbed copy of the film (*cough* thepiratebay.org *cough*) and all I can say is wow.

I couldn't be happier with the film, and I plan to watch it again. And again. And then I'll go to the bathroom, come back, and watch it again.

There are copies out there, but they sell out fast. Right now you can only get English Subtitle but next month the English dubbed will be available.

I personally prefer subtitled anyway.

Ahh good ol FFVII. The greatest game in history IMHO (to date anyway). I saw this a while ago in the Jap "Fan Subbed" form and I piss my pants it was soo good. I can't wait till the EN version gets to AUS.

Also with this and a little PS3 performance test that Square wipped up late last year there is talk of a FFVII remake on PS3. Personally nothing can be better than the original but if it is done right I will have to piss my pants a second time.

OK either I saw a really bad subbed version or you people are crazy!!

FF7 is one of my all time favorite games but this movie's subtitles were terrible and made no sense in parts! I almost couldn't watch it!

I would have much rather seen a dubbed version. If it made sense.

The animation was incredible though. This was a while back now so maybe there are better versions out there now. I'll have to check.

I finally got to buy the dubbed version of FFVII advent children this week. I watched the subtitled version online a while back, but now understand the storyline much better as a few bits were lost in translation in the subs I think.
did anyone else get goosebumps when sephiroth's music kicks in?
I had to put up with a running commentary throughout though from my son who still constantly plays FFVII over and over. He couldn't help calling out all of the moves and limit breaks that he saw as they happened. He was well into the film! I can see my dvd having to take a lot of wear and tear in the future.
