I can agree with this.

Good move.

It should be mandatory that any law Congress passes should apply to them as well, with no "exemptions" or "loopholes".
Enough said!

Take away the Comgress and Senate healthcare and give them all ObamaCare. And to top it off make them pay for it themselves, like the rest of us.

That would be hilarious- but those are a bunch of rich folk. A thousand dollar bill from the doctor doesn't break their Bank- a ten thousand dollar bill doesn't put them in the poor house for the rest of their lives- doesn't even make them have to re-arrange bill payments for the month.

They wouldn't feel it the way we the people feel it- but it would give them a reason to actually understands the issue rather than just knowing what their party line wants them to say about it.

While you are correct for the members of Congress however their staffs on the other hand would be devastated, just like normal Americans. A retired Republican tried to get a bill to force congress into the same situation as Americans and democrats not only went all out to kill the bill, they drafted their own response stripping the subsidy away from anyway supporting the bill, regardless if it passed or not. They killed the bill.

I hope Trump does this. The estimate for how much they would have to shell out is around 12k dollars a year.

Maybe then congress will get serious about doing their jobs.

There is a an old saying "necessity is the mother of motivation", I believe this move would be very motivating, and hugely popular with the general public, just do it.

Do it!!! Come on Trump, do something right for once and Do this!!

Think he's be exempting himself though in the process or just those in Congress???

He should lead by example and put everyone in Government on the same level as the people of this country. Then we'll see some changes happen real fast.

I hope he does it. I seriously do. And while he's at it, cut their salary down to federal minimum wage. See how they manage to afford their care making $7.25 an hour. Often, the hard lessons are best learned through experience. Damn right.

Sorry, an 16-year old off the street with no marketable skills is not an apt comparison. And yes I know there is plenty of joke material in that last sentence.

Their wages are passed by legislation. I *would* like to see their salaries approved by a national/state/district vote instead of them voting more money for themselves, though.

President Donald Trump is considering stripping the employer contribution for health insurance away from members of Congress.

Well, neighbor to the north, Canada already has this. The people get the exact same healthcare as their politicians get. Why should it be any different in the US?

I really hope he does this, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Hopefully they would see what a mess it is and seriously contemplate doing something instead of whatever they have been doing...

They were originally under Obamacare because that language got snuck into the final bill, and passed because ... SURPRISE! ... no one read it before voting. Then the staffers started to whine about it because ... SURPRISE! ... they couldn't afford it on a staffer salary. The Democrats took their sob story to the president and this was what got arranged so that Congress all got exempted from the regular exchanges with subsidies because how could they continue to get the best and brightest employed as their staffers if none of them could afford health care (I seem to recall this was the justification for the changes).

To threaten poor people with death so this despicable piece of garbage, this ignoramus and low life wretch can have a political success is demonic.

This country is finished

The exchanges are collapsing, which means those poor people you care so much about will lose their health insurance anyway.

The backbone of the economy (the middle class), and therefore the welfare programs can't afford to use their own insurance.

But no, go ahead and continue your pathetic appeals to emotion.

So your premise is that people didn't die in the last 7 years? Is that what you are going with?

Well look at that another thing that I can support during this wild Trump presidency!!

Gonna be hard to find any American, on either side of the isle who could possibly be against this!

Best part is that if they attempt to pull a mutiny, they will piss off each and every last one of their constituents, perhaps that would lead to third parties getting involved, which I believe is the inevitable result of the Trump presidency!

I would add to that, that all vets in Congress should be forced to use the VA for all of their health care! Talking to you John McCain!

Now a Marine sergeant and on patrol during his second Vietnam tour in October 1967, Kovic's unit kills a number of Vietnamese civilians in a village, believing them to be enemy combatants. During the retreat, Kovic accidentally kills one of the new arrivals to his platoon, a younger private first class named Wilson. During a firefight in January 1968, Kovic is critically wounded, but a fellow Marine rescues him. Paralyzed from the mid-chest down, he spends several months recovering at the Bronx Veterans Administration hospital, where the hospital conditions are poor, with rats roaming the floors; the doctors and nurses ignore patients and abuse drugs, and the equipment is too old to be useful. Kovic desperately tries to walk again with the use of crutches and braces, despite repeated warnings from his doctors.

Trump, once again shows his complete ignorance of most everything. There is NO Congressional exemption from the ACA. All members of OCngress were moved from the FEHB and into the exchanges long ago, after trying to exempt themselves, but failing.

Hell, some of them have even complained about their coverage through the exchanges, although I've no doubt they all have the best policies in the best risk pools.
