Did you miss the posts above about trade? The Vikings would not have ruined their business by attacking their trading partners and would have had their butts handed to them had they raided Byzantium.

I was really referring to the recent documentary drama called "Vikings" which showed the Nordic tribes raiding the Islamic cities along the coast of the Mediterranean, and bringing back lots of booty from the Muslim world.

Today, the Muslims are the terrorists, but hundreds of years ago it was the Vikings that brought terror to the foreign lands.
