you've got 99% of the worlds scientists.

wooow really? could you name 15 out of those 99%

you could google them

no thanks, the one who claims that 99% of the scientists agree on something should know at least 15 out of the so called 99%

~headdesks~

It is indeed not difficult. Just look outside the bubble of America oil company based psuedo-science, and you'll see the rest of the world thinks anthropogenic climate change is a real thing.

But hey, if you don't believe me, here's 46 House Republicans agreeing with Democrats in backing the DoDs study on climate change threats:

Republicans Join Dems In Believing In Climate Change

I'm kinda hoping it is getting warmer. Cold weather leads to winter and winter leads to White Walkers (or Caucasian Walkers if you find that name to be culturally insensitive).

Warm weather is good, cold weather is bad.

It will get warmer in some places and colder in other places. And we'll see more extremes as the temperature swings radically back and forth.

In fact in most parts of the world you're probably already seeing the see-sawing of temps, really hot one day, then bizarrely cold the next.

But yes, warm weather good. If you live in Siberia or Canada, climate change is quite good news. (For a while anyway.)

As long as it gets warmer in more places than it gets cold. Ice sheets are bad and I don't like shoveling my roof.

But if climate change isn't real...THEN WHO WAS PHONE!!!

Even I know that carbon dioxide traps heat and I barely passed science in high school. Some say it's volcanoes but volcanic emissions block sunlight which leads to cooling and that hasn't happened since Mt Tambora in 1815, so if all the hundreds of nuclear tests in the last seventy odd years or so to blast so many tonnes of dust into the atmosphere should've stopped a Manhattan sized Iceberg from shearing away from the antarctic icecap.

Now i'm no expert but i'm pretty sure ice melts when subjected to heat. But of course we can always blame the sun because it is isn't sentient and can't defend for itself and neither can people who have a basic grasp of science and others that don't want their iddy biddy fossil fuel dollar signs taken away from them.

If in 15 years solar panels could harness much more power than they currently do, then 3/5 houses in the US alone could be powered by the sun within 25 years and I think that could rise to 75 percent by 2040 and i think that's a fair estimate. The problem is harnessing and storage. If I was Trump I'd make sure there are solar panels on every roof in the 'dry states' like Nevada, New Mexico etc and perhaps using the likes of Death Valley and Bonneville to create large arrays of solar panels could help.

The one problem is with the tech, we should be focusing on solar tech because if we can make the solar cells more efficient and reliable certain states in the U.S could become primarily fueled by the sun in 10 years.

More ZeroHedge and Heartland Institute bullsh!t. Here, you need to read this blog:

Blog

It explains how and why the temperatures were altered, and they are valid reasons. Some highlights:

Joe D’Aleo, co-author of the CEI-affiliated report, made the embarrassingly uninformed and wrong claim that “nearly all of the warming they are now showing are in the adjustments.”

The report "On the Validity of NOAA, NASA and Hadley CRU Global Average Surface Temperature Data & The Validity of EPA’s CO2 Endangerment Finding - Abridged Research Report" (with annotations) by James P. Wallace III, Joseph S. D’Aleo, and Craig D. Idso provides no evidence for this claim; the graph above shows the opposite is true.

Bucket measurements are made by hauling a bucket of water from the ocean and stirring a thermometer until it has the temperature of the water. The problem is that the water cools due to evaporation between the time it is lifted from the ocean and the time the thermometer is read.

This is not only a large adjustment, but also a large uncertainty. Initially is was estimated that the bucket measurements were about 0.4 °C colder. Nowadays the estimate, depending on the bucket and the period, is about 0.2 °C, but it can be anywhere between 0.4 °C and zero.

The graph below shows the warming over land as estimated from weather station data by US NOAA (GHCNv3). Over land the warming was larger than the raw observations suggest. The adjustments are made by comparing every candidate station with its nearby neighbours. Changes in the regional climate will be the same in all stations, any change that only happens at the candidate station is not representative for the region, but likely a change in how temperature was observed.

You need to stop believing these pseudo-science articles pushed by the alt-right and understand the real science.

How much money is being pumped into this effort, and not one cent is used to improve the collection process to eliminate the need to "adjust" the data? Gee, I don't know, maybe lowering an electronic thermometer to the desired depth instead of using a 19th century method of data collection?

Riiiiiight. SMGDH

That is not how real science should work. If you need to adjust the data due to collection bias, you make an effort to modify the collection process to eliminate the need to adjust the data to get ACCURATE data. Unless, that is, it is in someone's best interest to have that adjustment play into their favor. Again, that is not science, but politics at the collection level.

Thank you for the well thought out post. I know a little about the subject, you seem to have a firm grasp.

Thanks again.

LOL. First off who are you mad at? The measurement method is what it is - you can't go back and change the method so you can only adjust the measurements. And second, had you actually read the blog you would know that it said the bulk of those types of measurements happened during WWII. So you were about 50 years off. Yeah, SMGDH...

only the White Walkers are evil. Other colors and genders of Walkers are allowed to be angry since they have been opressed by the W.W for so long.
