Today before the midday, Gen. of Division (kind of Lt. Gen.) Waldemar Skrzypczak (Polish Army) took the command of the multinational division
garrisoned at the Echo Base in Divaniyah, replacing Gen. Andrzej Ekiert on this position.
Meanwhile in several other parts of Iraq, in today's terrorist attacks, at least 27 people died. This was the bloodiest day in Iraq since the
elections on 30th January.
General Ekiert, while giving command, said that during service he had many difficult days, especially when Polish soldiers wer dying. Since 18th July
2004, when General Ekiert took command, 10 Poles died in Iraq.
