Exclusive – Sen. Rand Paul: Senate GOP Decides to Keep Obamacare

Now too many Republicans are falling all over themselves to stuff hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ dollars into a bill that doesn’t repeal Obamacare and feeds Big Insurance a huge bailout. Obamacare regulations? Still here. Taxes? Many still in place, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars. Insurance company bailouts? Those, too.

The proof is in the pudding (despite their weasel words to the contrary): If Republicans hadn't wanted Obamacare, it never would have been passed much less implemented. If Republicans didn't want Obamacare, they would have had at least one healthcare bill ready to go on day one of the 2017 congressional session. If Republicans didn't want Obamacare, they wouldn't be further codifying and solidifying Obamacare:

The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. I want to repeat that so everyone realizes why I’ll vote “no” as it stands now: The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. Not even close.

In fact, the Senate GOP bill codifies and likely expands many aspects of Obamacare.

The Senate Obamacare-lite bill codifies a federal entitlement to insurance. With the Senate GOP bill, Republicans, for the first time, will signal that they favor a key aspect of Obamacare – federal taxpayer funding of private insurance purchases.

The bill will transfer billions of dollars to people who will then transfer billions of dollars to insurance companies. What a great business model – encourage the federal government to use taxpayer money to buy a private company’s product.

And these are the same folks that tell us WE DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO HEALTH CARE!!! These are the same folks that will let us die in pain and misery in the streets, but they'll exempt themselves and their families, all while taking our tax dollars to enrich themselves and their cronies.

No heart... no soul... no conscience. They are American Psychos:

Psychopaths are very manipulative and can easily gain people’s trust. They learn to mimic emotions, despite their inability to actually feel them, and will appear normal to unsuspecting people. Psychopaths are often well educated and hold steady jobs. Some are so good at manipulation and mimicry that they have families and other long-term relationships without those around them ever suspecting their true nature.

When committing crimes, psychopaths carefully plan out every detail in advance and often have contingency plans in place. Unlike their sociopathic counterparts, psychopathic criminals are cool, calm, and meticulous. Their crimes, whether violent or non-violent, will be highly organized and generally offer few clues for authorities to pursue. Intelligent psychopaths make excellent white-collar criminals and "con artists" due to their calm and charismatic natures.

Gah.

I really hate this.

We need to shrink big govt and get the money back to the people. When we are able to pick and choose with our own money the prices will drop. We are just letting these industries set the price and force us to pay.

Not many people really wanted Obamacare, it rose prices of everyone's insurance. Now, they are used to paying way more money and having the government pay all that extra wasted money to insurance companies which pass it on to doctors and healthcare systems.

I am sick of them sending me a bag to poop into when I have zero symtoms of any need for that test. On top of it, they will find a reason for a colonoscopy, almost everyone who poops in the bag and sends it out is told they need one. Then they find nothing. If I wanted to have someone stick something up my ____ I would commit a crime and go to prison.

Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are considered for reelection every even year. Senators however, serve six-year terms and elections to the Senate are staggered over even years so that only about 1/3 of the Senate is up for reelection during any election. most of these people need to be replaced. i read a study coupl eyears back most people that vote, vote for names they know. we need to wake up and replace the evil #'s with some fresh names. All the working class needs to wake up get to commy socialist running our country out of office. got a lot of people on wellfare we have to out vote im sure.

It's truly shameful, eh?

And we're paying these outrageous prices for what they want to give us... what will make them the most $$$... not even what is best for us.

One of the virtues of competitive business (even healthcare) is that the consumers reward the best product, and encourage and promote further quality products and services. When competition and choices are taken away, our control is taken away, and we get the crap that we have now.

You are absolutely spot on! The problem is money!

The game is rigged, and if the establishment candidate does get a legit challenger they are buried because of not enough cash to run against the corruption that is holding down their castle.

Money needs to be taken out of politics that even the most poorest man/woman who has great ideas can compete!

Think of the money spent on elections and for what? How could that money help the poor the needy? Yet these political slime balls NEVER bring up who bought them at auction?

Yeah, that's what we've gotta do... but it's harder than it seems. Last time McCain was up for re-election, the party put up JD Hayworth who has even more baggage than McCain (if that's possible!). There wasn't a chance in hell that he would win. And I'm pretty sure the party PTB knew that and it was the plan all along.

I made a post most likely while you made this one to me. It's a rigged game. The money has to be taken out of the equation if our system has any chance of becoming true and just.

Yup. Those colonoscopies are pushed like candy on Halloween... and while they seldom find anything (while costing a pretty penny of course), they can cause even greater -- permanent -- damage in the process. Happened to my father-in-law.

Nothing like creating a demand for your services in the guise of "helping"... nice gig if you can get it.

Well, considering that the PPACA passed in the dead of night on Christmas Eve with zero Republicans voting for it, I'm concerned about your comment, here.

Well, you're half right. If Republicans didn't want Obamacare, they would have just done a clean repeal of it, then in a different vote, would have proposed a healthcare bill on the same day or shortly thereafter. Full repeal is the first step...whether or not it gets replaced is a wholly different matter

And these are the same folks that tell us WE DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO HEALTH CARE!!!

You don't--no one has a right to someone else's time, effort, skill, and product unless spelled out in the constitution.

These are the same folks that will let us die in pain and misery in the streets, ...

Nothing but ignorant hyperbole.

... but they'll exempt themselves and their families, all while taking our tax dollars to enrich themselves and their cronies.

Not ignorant hyperbole.

Be afraid folks... be very afraid.

Agreed, but that goes for both sides of the aisle and their attempts to usurp private industry and our rights. Both sides are equally guilty.

Or just keep paying your taxes and getting nothing much of value in return. Same feeling of violation.

That's exactly what needs to happen... but our work is cut out for us. Between the party machines that promote their favorite sons and a complicit media that tells us what they want us to know, that is becoming a bigger and bigger challenge.

At some point, the people need to come together and make our own demands to take the power back. A "Contract by Americans" so to speak. And only those candidates -- any and all parties -- who sign the pledge will receive our votes.

It's hard to vote those weasles out when the welfare rats have the upper hand. They're too numerous, and it's too easy for them to vote- sometimes more than once.
While the rest of us have to cut out time at work to find time to vote, they're getting paid to do it.

I know someone who died from them perforating the colon. I mean, I know at least a hundred people who have had one and only one died. Another woman I know did get an infection from the colonoscopy too, but a simple twenty days of antibiotics took care of that. Her infection arose from them taking a sample, not poking the tool through the intestine.

In both those cases, like most of the people I know who had them, they had no symptoms that would justify getting the colonoscopy.

For those who think it is somehow monumentally outside the box for the government to stabilize a market by providing subsidies to corporations, take a look at the oil industry.

Or agriculture.

And there have been others and are others that receive money, ostensibly to ultimately assist the greater good through lower costs to the consumer and societal and market stabilization.

Why not insurance? The costs of healthcare are astronomical- we should work on bringing those down - but they are what they are and to destabilize such a necessary industry is insane.

The fix needs to happen where upper middle income folks who don't currently get subsidies, have their premiums lowered along with their deductibles. We need overall costs for insurance lowered for everyone in order to do that, or carry subsidies up to a higher income bracket.

Those on the lower income level in states that didn't expand Medicaid are also struggling, and everyone would benefit if premiums and deductibles were reduced.

This is not really a hard fix, but it does require embracing the ACA.

The other options are 1) higher premiums for les coverage and bringing pre-existing condition cutoffs and lifetime caps back into play, 2) going all the way to Medicare for All with some private insurance riders for gaps in coverage as most seniors now experience.

*shrug*. Rather than break the markets, I'd like to see them fixed to be more fair for everyone. Or single payer but that has pros and cons too.
