I don't see any contradiction there.

If he thought at the time he was pulled over for his bumper stickers and not for failure to use his turn signal why did he say he understood that he did not use his turn signal? He just kept making excuses on why he should have been allowed to not use his turn signal.

so you think that being 85 is to old to drive , it is the younger drivers that have the most accidents and exhibit bad driving .

I always said liberal mentality is a form of a sick personality. Anytime I'm driving down the road and there's a car covered in bumper stickers, always a leftist loon. PS usually in a Prius or Subaru!
I’m lucky I didn’t get shot.
I had a good dose of arrogance on this evening and, in my rear view mirror, the image of the second officer out of the car, his hands ready in case I made the wrong move. My life seemed to be in danger.
After over three million miles of driving and using my turn signals religiously, Ol’ Clark was pulled over for not signaling a right turn, giving me a chance to better understand how minority motorists feel when they are pulled over for the most trivial reason, or no reason at all.
I can fully understand how easy it is for police to make random stops. I have a rear bumper full of liberal bumper stickers and a dent. My car is old, with 425,000 miles, which probably makes me an aging hippie with a weed habit. So why not pull me over?

I demand to see the dashcam video. If I view the dashcam video and I don't find the cops to be as courteous or the old man as arugmentative as the sherrif claims, then Sherrif Snowflake should immediately step down.
Sorry if you're not privy to that video, but frankly, why the hell would you be again?
ETA: I guess you didn't even look at the story in the OP did you? The dashcam footage is RIGHT THERE at the top of the article.
Well, the reporters boss saw the dashcam video....and acted accordingly
Keep defending the faith, brother.
