so you think that being 85 is to old to drive , it is the younger drivers that have the most accidents and exhibit bad driving .

There are a lot of situations in this country where older people are allowed to drive way past the point that they are physically or mentally able.

I don't know the mans physical condition, but mentally it sounds like all his capacities are not there.

I don't know what part of the world you're from, but around here, if there is a car covered in bumper stickers it's usually extolling the virtues of guns, god and Trump, usually referencing each other somehow. They usually drive like they don't care who lives or dies, including themselves. I guess they figure Jesus Loves Them, they are armed and Trump will bail them out of jail and that is enough.

I had a good dose of arrogance on this evening and, in my rear view mirror, the image of the second officer out of the car, his hands ready in case I made the wrong move. My life seemed to be in danger.

Nope. On so many levels, just nope.

Trying to pretend any of the above is corroborated by the video is a fail right out of the gate. And that's not even getting into the other demonstrably false statements he makes, like there was no car behind him for an entire block or that he was stopped "in the intersection," etc.

First line of the column:

If you read it, it's not really what it's being made out to be by Trump's favorite NY tabloid. It was just some elderly columnist relaying his perception of a traffic stop where he thought the cops could have cut him some slack but were dicks. The "I could have been shot" bit was obvious hyperbole. The bumper sticker bit was actually this:

I can fully understand how easy it is for police to make random stops. I have a rear bumper full of liberal bumper stickers and a dent. My car is old, with 425,000 miles, which probably makes me an aging hippie with a weed habit. So why not pull me over?

Oh hell, it's Friday. I think this needs to be escalated to a major news item. It seems arbitrary to end this he-said-he-said on the pig's sherrif's version of events based on a video we didn't see.

I demand to see the dashcam video.

If I view the dashcam video and I don't find the cops to be as courteous or the old man as arugmentative as the sherrif claims, then Sherrif Snowflake should immediately step down.

Well, the reporters boss saw the dashcam video....and acted accordingly (it is also in the news story). Sorry if you're not privy to that video, but frankly, why the hell would you be again?

Pretty simple really. The old man is a columnist for local paper, is a liberal. He was pulled over legally and was given about as much resect one is due during a traffic stop like this. Decided to use his bully pulpit to write up "his liberal" version of the event. Unaware that there was dash cam video & audio that proved him to be a BIG OLD LIBERAL LIAR........Using his position as a columnist to spread a false narrative of events....almost sounds like he works for the DNC. I watched the dash cam video on my local news outlets site.....so the video is out there. As I said before, they were as nice as can be for the type of stop it was.

I'm not certain it is the Sheriff's job to respond to community distractors, or at least waited to see if the story grew any legs THEN play the video, or play it in Court if it ever got that far.

Additionally, your own link to the writer's fictional story includes quotes of himself attempting to lawyer his way out of a simple ticket on the side of the road so I mean....
