Like i said before, i think no country is free, and most people are conditioned. But, please tell me, how is the USA more free than the UK? I hear American people say this, but give reasons why this is the case, as i would love to hear them.

If you look at most rankings the UK is now above the USA for overall freedom and economic freedom.

In all rankings the USA is never at the top.

Freedom house

freedom of press

Democracy

The USA only focuses on there gun rights but has ignored the fact they have had many of there other rights stripped or reduced.

Lol, true.
Cannabis, unless you grow more than ten plants you ain't going to jail, just some lame fine paid off in installments of £5 per week, I almost forget it's illegal so many people grow these days.
To be honest jail is really difficult to get into in the UK, even class A possession is usually a small fine if not a caution.

I think you are right about the freedom thing, it's all about the right to own certain firearms and free speech.
I'm happy enough only being able to own a rifle or shotgun. I'm happy enough that if I incite others to be violent to people because of their race/gender/etc that the law will come down on me if someone complains.

I can cross the street wherever I feel it's safe for me to do so, I can call a grumpy cop a prick if he's being a prick and not worry about being shot, I can grow whatever I like in my front yard, I can get arrested and so long as it's not under the terrorism act the police have to charge or release me within 24 hours. In fact, being arrested is probably one of the least scary things that could happen to me in the UK lol, cameras in the police car, the custody suite, and even the cells keep us safe.

If I get cancer or some other horrible illness I will never lose my house because of medical bills, and if a US citizen suffers an injury or or illness while in the UK they will be treated the same as a Brit regardless of what insurance they may or may not have. I'm actually pleased about that, what a sign of a decent society, caring for fellow man.

Yes, nobody is truly free, there is always the hardest gang in town, even in post apocalyptic type scenarios. Right now the hardest gang here is the UK government and cops who only generally carry extendable batons. I prefer my freedom here than the 'freedom' I read year after year on ATS in the US.

I think that why the USA has fallen in freedom rankings.

Its the decline of there criminal "justice" system.....although now it really should be called criminal injustice system.

If your not summarily executed by a roided up cop the courts in many states are little more can kangaroo courts. Unless of course your rich in which case even if you are found guilty you get away with only a light sentence even if its murder or being a nounce.Due process can be suspended thanks to George W , the media are allowed to bias the public in trials and in most cases defendents are forced into plea deals.

Now the UK has its injustices and cover up but the corruption in our jutice system is not comparable to the USA.

nah mate , just graffiti any corporate owned property and you will get more jail time than say if you stabbed a man to death
or raped a child and that is a fact!

that is how bad the UK justice system is currently

I have friends in Glasgow who have faced jail time for painting trains and one of my friends was sentenced the same day as a wee ned who'd stabbed someone to death outside a pub

my friend got 5 years and the guy that killed a boy got 3 year deferred sentence
similarly a friend in London who was a well known graffiti writer got 7 years in jail and was sentenced the same day as a man who raped a 5 yr old girl and he was given a 3 year deferred sentence

what does that tell you about our justice system Profit before people

Lol, yes! I actually have quite a lot of faith in our courts, minimal fines, instalment payments, no big deal. I got convicted last week for a road excise duty offense, didn't even bother to plead not guilty or turn up at court, got a £200 fine in my absence and I'm paying it off a tenner a week now lol.
No roid rage cops at my door, no 'respect authority!' bull#, just a letter through the post.
Land of the free my arse.

For sure! Criminals need a beating in the US and citizens seem to accept it as normal.
In my case last week I could actually have pleaded not guilty and probably won but the court was in Bristol 2 hours or so drive away and I couldn't be arsed so I sacked it off and waited for the lame fine. £200 is easy street, would have been almost as much in fuel and parking charges so I settled for the conviction with less stress and probably only 50 quid more than if I'd turned up at court to chase a not guilty verdict.

Of course nobody is free, as I've said before there is always the hardest gang in town, but some are more free than others. I prefer British freedom than the 'freedom' my US friends tell me about.

*If I ever moved to North America my choice would be Canada over the US, every time, in a heartbeat. I think the US idea of freedom is the most delusional there is.

Agreed, just a quick question though, do you eat GM food in Canada like the US? It's banned for human consumption in the UK and Europe.
Nanny state stopping us from eating food which nobody knows what the possible outcomes could be. Maybe the US is the testing ground because nobody can complain or protest. They get shot. Experimental GM crop fields get destroyed regularly in the UK, because we can, police caution if arrested and released a couple of hours later.

A job for the Common Man
A prayer for the Common Man.
Goodwill for the Common Man.
A Protector for the Common Man.

Why America is - and will always be - the Greatest Nation on Earth

And this is why They hate us, from the ruling elites around the globe to the religious radicals.
The common people from under their own control would jump at the chance to escape their grips to come to the US and live in freedom.
Those among us wishing to be "more like Europe" try to spread their progressive poison to ruin the best fruit the earth has had to offer from within. Their's is a failed effort, like a blight or infestation that proves to be insignificant because of the overwhelming bounty of the harvest.
Sure ok I guess if you can afford to live here it's not bad. Try surviving on less then 10k a year and you might have a different opinion.

Will much due respect TinfoilTP; have you traveled much ?

America is great. It used to be better though, and a lot of other places are great too.

I love my country, but these days I love my country in a way that one might love an old uncle that has lost his way; as in I really want to see better days here, but it's become exceedingly difficult to make it through honest hard work.

My siblings (about 10 years younger) are even more keenly aware that we donot live in the America that had so much potential for our parents. All of us have better educations than our parents, yet all of us earn less than our parents were making 20years ago, and the old financial rules about savings, rent/mortgage and car costs are completely impossible for an average person to achieve.

60% of Americans currently spend more than they earn, which obviously involves some financial irresponsibility, but is also necessary for some, and is clearly not sustainable!
www.americasavesweek.org...

Personally I have no social life, I donate blood to get free movie tickets, and I work quite a bit, yet still cannot afford basic healthcare.

I despise socialism, but as a capitalist, the financial argument for USA instituting a single-payer healthcare system and good-for-national-productivity benefits actually pay for themselves and help us continue the decent path we have started in the right direction putting America's interests FIRST under the new president.

So, America is good, but Americans deserve a BETTER America.

Europe was actually pretty damn nice until the Marxist, PC, self-loathing, guilt-brigade starting destroying it with real effort about 10years ago. I spent lots of time all around Europe in that time and it was really sad to see.
