A lockdown was in place at a military arsenal in Alabama Tuesday, with its Twitter account calling it a "possible active shooter" and urging people on the base to "run hide fight" in a tweet.

A spokesman for Redstone Arsenal told Huntsville, Alabama, NBC affiliate WAFF-TV that there was possibly an active shooting. An alert from the Marshall Space Flight Center said "situation exists near the Sparkman Center, RSA bldg. 5301," according to WAFF.

An active shooter training exercise was scheduled for the week, according to a Facebook post from the site, but WAFF said it was told the incident was unrelated.

Hopefully this is inaccurate and it is nothing.

If it is an active shooter, I hope that it is resolved with no innocent deaths and injuries.

Lets hope it's just a drill...even though sources say the scheduled drill is unrelated.

Spent a lot of time there right after Desert Storm....not the kind of place you want an active shooter, and frankly, I am a little sceptical at this point. Security was tight around there back in the day, anyhow.

My son works there.... just called to say he is OK. Everything is locked down and the news is reporting the cops and military are freakin' swarming the place.

No confirmed casualties.

Glad your son is ok. I know folks that work there as well (I'm a contracting officer and this career field is kind of a small world)...

Everyone around here knows someone who works there... it's a major economic hub as well as a major DoD research facility nationally.

Looks like the commotion is centered in the Sparkman Center.
