i dont see how normal dancing can be considered sexual as its all down to your interpretation of the dance as its completely subjective

dancing naked is different or dancing in very revealing clothing , that's where the difference lies the intention of the dancer

of course there are mating dances and normal dancing
so there is a difference

Dancing has always been overtly sexual and even tribal, the man showing his skills and then holding the woman more intimately than per normal. The only thing that is different is that the gender relationship will be mixed .

Of course there are exceptions, a dad dancing with his little girl at a party should be seen as a fun thing, people have to use their common sense. Sadly the Western World has now tried to normalise sex by constantly using more and more suggestive / almost out right porn in what are classed as 'music video's'. Personally I'm from a different time when morals were respected, where sex was a magic moment that happened once people got to know a little about each other. Now sex is just an act that happens as a matter of course, even how you introduce yourselves to each other. For me that cheapens the act.

What I do find horrendous is the blatant sexualising of the young, especially the little girls, the parents being happy their little girl is parading around in nigh on nothing, caked in make up for adults to leer at.

Makes me want to puke..

But sex sells, sex is now just a way to roll in cash and the more mucky the better it seems...

Where the hell have morals and decency gone...I still prize them but it seems many don't...

I disagree dancing isnt always overtly sexual , it depends on the dancer and their intentions because a dancer knows which way they want to move their bodies and they can do so in a way which can evoke many different thoughts and feelings

and so dancing was created first as a form communication and of ritual and finally a form of entertainment
you can communicate easily with someone through dance !

after all it is essentially the higher level of body language

its funny you mentioned the whole sex in society thing , because go back 1000 years and we never had these morals etc , we were still living in nature fighting for dominance and so adults having sex with pubescent teens was common practice , and not until we actually developed proper civilisation and we didn't have to compete so fiercely with nature we then stopped these practices and we are now fighting our genetic programming.

For some its easy and morals and decency hold intact without fear , others they suffer their ego and give in and thoughts become actions and before too long they have become addicted to feeding their ego in that area!

The one thing these music producers are good at is developing cults of personality, just like those bogus televangelists who build a facade that can sway the masses. Media saturation doesn't help either as many young impressionable teens will conform to be accepted, hence the overwhelming followers.

It's like all those young teen girls wearing Ramones shirts, they have no Idea who the Ramones are but since the cool kids wear them then so should they, the same can apply to the Rachel haircut, some teens might not have seen Friends but the cool kids have them so...

As for those lyrics, they are harmless and amateurish. Now read some lyric's From Cannibal Corpse's 'sentenced to burn' that may have predicted Donald Trump and the state of the world when it was written 20 years ago, do you think this song would get any airtime?

Do you think a song with lyrics like that would get airtime? It's clearly an allegory for political and religious fanaticism.
However there could be an underlying message, The early rock acts used allegories and double entendre's to mask the real meanings behind songs and maybe Katy Perry is doing the same.

Or she hired a crap lyricist. I'm betting on the latter.

well now that you say this , the current state of music is that its a backlash to the swinging 60's and 70's hippie movement
when music meant something and brought people together on social and political issues
they discovered that was the case and went about correcting these "detrimental" to society musicians
and so they cookie cuttered an entire generation of music to produce meaningless drivel to counter that generation of mind expanding and spirit lifting music

so should we create a counter to their parry and continue to make music of value and of artistic merit and music worth singing about , like there are no artists in the world today that I know of that are singing about war or anti war music , there are no artists doing it , there are no anti government groups , like the punk generation had

its all so diluted and bland and the same old same old it does nothing for anyone other than placate them!

From the little I know of Katy Perry here's my two cents on the matter.

She's a former gospel/church inclined singer who even appeared on P.O.D.'s (a Christian rock band) music video "Goodbye For Now"

There's a conspiracy theory, which I think is true, that her pop imagery is a copy cat of Archie comics' character Katy Keene. Check it out. It's pretty creepy.

So this detachment she's experiencing right now...the whole rhetoric about not being me and all that drama...is that I think she's rebelling against this Katy Keene mold she's identified with.

A simple yet genuine singer of faith versus fake yet successful pop icon. That's her struggle hence the meltdowns and all.
