However, the rest of the apologist rhetoric from ATS members in this thread is the real issue here.

So you have a problem with free speech or just "Biggie Prostate"?

I have a problem with people advocating, supporting, and being apologists toward the goal of wishing someone dead over a political difference of opinion, yes. As for free speech, I am not the government, so I suggest you understand what the 1st amendment protects us from before accusing anyone of free speech violations.

I didn't say anything about the 1st amendment. I understand that the constitution and the bill of rights only limit the actions of the government. That isn't what I'm talking about.

I brought up biggie prostate because I would have thought that joking would serve as a distraction from the real issue but somehow that didn't phase you at all, at least not enough to warrant a response.

I'm seeing a bit of a double standard there.

To me, by not thinking it is a big deal to wish someone DEATH, it makes you part of the problem. This type of hateful rhetoric MUST stop...it is not productive and only encourages escalation on both sides.

Just stop it already, and don't accept it as "normal", because it is not normal.

Democrats have already shown they dont support his actions as he has already been fired. What more do you want from them? Give him a welcome in congress after assaulting a reporter like a GOP congressmen did recently?

If you read my postings in the thread, you would see I acknowledged the Democratic party for dismissing him was a good thing. However, the rest of the apologist rhetoric from ATS members in this thread is the real issue here. Constant deflection using unrelated examples, like you just did above.

It is VERY relevant in today's political climate. One party gave support and welcomed a man who attacked a person then lied about it to try to cover it up and is now a member of congress. The other immediately fired a man for words, terrible words but words nonetheless.

I fail to understand how not falling for an obvious (and even admitted) deflection from the topic at hand is akin to a double standard.

Are you now the voice of the ATS members in this thread that are in support of accepting advocating violence over a differing political opinion?

Of course you do.

Someone made a joke that may be considered a deflection from the issue of the thread but that didn't bother you. Even after pointing it out it doesn't bother you.

I only speak for myself. I don't care.

During the US presidential election I wrote that I could understand why some people were willing to disrupt Trump rallies. Notice the wording.

I can understand them. I didn't share the anger, I wouldn't join them but I can see why they were doing what they were doing.

I understand why people support Trump. I don't share their hope, I wouldn't join them but I can see why they were doing what they were doing.

Not excuses or apologies for either side.

It's funny until there is a current of hatred running through a large ideological population.

It's not shocking any more.

I remember having a conversation one time with a Russian fellow. We laughed at how in the 80's, we'd have been trying to kill each other. We drank and laughed.

That's where I see this now. We can have a drink, tell a joke, laugh.

But there are too many in your ideological camp that just want me dead for not believing the same as you do.

Just look at the hatred over healthcare.

The very idea of removing an entitlement has caused death, threats, violence.

We're at the onset of a civil war. I get mocked a lot for saying that, but I think it's true.

It will get worse before it gets better, sadly.

Sorry 'bout the rant.

Yeah, it was scary with all the hatred towards Obama and his family, called racism. I think the "hate" for trump is bc he is a racist bigot...or sets himself up to look like one. Now that he is president, there's a lot of crazy racist out there who think they can speak thier hate freely , threaten muslims and kill people who defend them and stuff like that...and the "leftists" will fight that. They will protest and will never accept this clown who is our president as normal. Racism, hate & bigotry is NOT the norm and should not be tolerated.

I'm not saying shooting scalise is right, I'm actually not talking about that at all, just pointing out that one side is more racist and the other side will not tolerate it.

It's not leftists hate ruining things and shooting scalise...but you guys can twist it any way you want...it's a free country...still...I think

That's what irritates me.

Just because I didn't like Obama's policies, you think I'm racist.

That is bullsh#t.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I don't even know you. Actually I kind of feel like I do and I don't think you are.

The racist are the ones making fun of his big ears, calling Michelle an ape, calling for him to be lynched.

How do I know all this? I follow extreme right websites and Facebook pages. They are horribly scary. That's why I am sure to differentiate a respectable republican like you perhaps from the deplorable racist scum I have come into contact with online AND in real life.

It's out there, it's ugly and scary.

Hahaha!
Yep, that why the left apews so much hate to black conservatives like Ben Carson.

And the left likes women to. Unless it's,sarah Palin or,ann counter or Handel.

The identity politics that has arisen in the left is some of the, most vile racism I have ever seen.

And unlike the right wing people that are racist, this racism of identity poltics is part of the party platform.

When will you people on the left realize that the lie of calling everyone who disagrees with you a racist is a losing strategy?

How about dems saying Otto warmbier deserved to die because he was white.

Or saying scalise should die because he is white.
eacist
Or the curriculum all through academia calling whiteness evil.

Show,me one class discussing the evils of blackness.

But we know, you feel only whites can be racist.

First off, I'm not a republican.

Second, you are doing what you accuse many of doing.

If all leftists aren't freedom-hating Marxists, then why are republicans such racist scum?

Do you actually believe this tripe?
Seriously?
It is not the leftist hate that was responsible for the shooting?

Let's step back a bit a recap the FACTs.

1. It was a Bernie Sanders supporter that pulled the trigger on unarmed men (leftist)
2. The shooter explicitly and with malicious forethought intentionally targeted Republican politicians (i.e. targeting the right) out of his own hatred for the party (he had a list consisting of all Republicans, so it was not a single person who he hated)
3. A Democrat official publicly stated (using vulgarity) that he wished Scalisi was actually killed in the attack (leftist)

Again, with all of his leftist hate, he shot these men in cold blood. Yet, you think this is not fueled by leftist hate?

Wow, what mental gymnastics!
Truly Olympic quality stuff right there!
