Stairway to Heaven ... Or not?

WOW. i am really suprised at the lack of input into this topic... dissapointing to say the least

This whole backwards crap is the silliest, most juvenile thing! I have never understood it, ever! You can do this to many songs form all types of music and you will hear all types of things.......


On a side note...I was once asked out by Plant, I said no, he ended up going out with a friend of mine......that was back in the day when everyone in bands just sorta hung out together at Piedmont park in Atlanta Ga. He was conceited jerk at the time!

pretty funny how you say its the most juvenile thing, but yet you ahve not listened and actually heard what is id.. it really is there, you shopuld try and listen.

Yes you can do it to many songs, even to Britney Spears. hahaha . But how often(either fake or real) does the full translation of a song played backwards come along? I ask that you simply read the lyrics and look at the way the words make sense. They actually do, throughout the whole song too.

Ok this is what people tend to forget, Plant wrote the lyrics and had little if no occult tie. While Page wrote the music (not all) and he was obessed with the occult and especialy crowley. I think people are looking in the wrong direction when they look into the lyrics. I would say your best bet is to look at page playing his guitar rifts and probably even solos. Crowley did use alot of mathematics in his magik, could pages gutair rifts be like a magikal equation? Im not to educated in this topic..but i hope there is someone who is. Ladyv could probably answer this, could any sort of magik be performed through sound?
Also i think we need a team of people who have a wide knowledge of anciet and occult symbols to work out pages symbol Zoso.

I have no doubt that back in the day bands would mask the music. I dont think it was for Satan though. I think it was more of a marketing thing. For my fellow fossils out there who were alive and partying in the 80's you'll remember that heavy metal was the devils music and our parents hated it. All the Motley Crues, and Iron Maidens. It was all satanic.

In retrospect, I think it was all marketing. Our parents hated it, which meant we loved it. It was our rebellion. But since the advent of CDs being the standard, it kind of faded away.

On a side note, you can chalk all the Zeppelin satanic stuff up to garbage, but if you look closely at them, (Plant in particular) he had some really terrible tragedies strike him and his family during the height of their success. Some blamed Page's involvement with the occult. It all seemed to start after he bought Crowleys old home. Probably just a coincidence though.

I would never link zeppelin to satan as that is just hogwash. What i was trying to imply that page was using some sort of magik, be it black magik. To make his music so it would sell so well, a type of magikal marketing as to say lol.
Yes alot of thigns bad happend to the whole band in their peak, but this can be related to the whole karma thing, you use black techniques they will come back to you.

They were a band... dont you think paige could have had even a little influence over Plant??? After all, his(Plant's) symbol on Led Zeppelin IV is the feather with a circle around it.... the symbol of a writer, and also the symbol of one of the gods/desses (Ma'at) from the aincient MU civilization, who are also mentioned in the reversed stairway to heaven. ("Ma'at must have our laws (Goddess of civilization) Toth must be superb (Because together they are infallable)")

Wow, I listened to it backwards just now. It really does follow those lyrics. Maybe just coincidence. Some things are hard to explain, like Dark Side of the Moon to Wizzard of Oz. We will just never know. But still, pretty cool.

The more I research this phenomena, the more I think it's just mind tricks. Granted, "Stairway" does certainly seem to follow these backwards lyrics, but listen to the song backwards without the aid of the printed lyrics first. See if you can decipher it on your own.

It's a well known psychological fact that the power of suggestion is a very strong one indeed. Upon listening to music and speech backwards without the aid of written text, most of it simply sounds like backwards jibberish. The human brain expects to hear recognizable words, and as it tries to decipher the sounds, it will associate words with the sounds. Given a text to follow, the brain will have a guide to follow when trying to make these associations, and almost every time, you'll hear precicely what the words suggest. Given a different text, you'd probably hear different words.

I started research on this as a skeptic, hoping to prove it true. Now I remain a skeptic, leaning towards proof that this phenomena doesn't exist.

satanic or not. I think that the reason people hear the words in it backwards are becuse they have been told they were there. For instance on that backwards sight if u click show rezerse lyrics youll probabley hear those. if you were showed deiffrent lyrics thats what you would hear

Quite true, most possibly the best or one of the best songs ever, and for ever. And i am certian that its most certianly not satanic. As for the messages on the other hand, i believe the song makes more sense backward than it does foreward.

I listened to the clip on the page (not the mp3, the one at the top) before I looked at the lyrics. The only word I heard was satan though. Maybe I'll go back and listen to the mp3 version.
Personally, I love Led Zeppelin. So please, don't stone me or anything for my signature.....

Do you have any idea where i can find that BIO you read??? i would be very intrested in reading it, since i did do a short study into masking rock music when i was a kid for school****

the zeps a great band hands down but page got into it and my research is that the devil took advantage of it agree or disagree thats my beliefs.....PS they still r a good band

In music store I saw the lyrics to Stairway written in a circular fashion and this changed the meaning significantly. However, I have not been able to find it since. Perhaps, someone has this lyrics sheet.

I want to listen to listen to the song backwards but im not sure how to do it can someone help?
