i have recieved information from a source who has a relative in the military. this is what he had to say
around the begining of June, there was a meeting between the CIA and top members of the Taliban leadership in a newly constructed airbase near Quetta
in Pakistan. the meetings purpose was to discuss the the share of power that the taliban would have in the kabul goverment under the following
conditions:
1) the taliban would hand over Mullah Omar to the americans
2) all non-afghan taliban combatants would be handed over to the US authorities
3) The taliban would accept Hamid Karzai as the president of afghanistan
4) the taliban would allow the return of afghan ex-patriots specifically those living in the US or europe, and would allow them a share of power in
the afghan goverment
5) the taliban would not object to the US presence around Kabul
The taliban apparently agreed to all of the above, except for the handover of Omar. in addition, the taliban requested a date from the americans as to
when they would leave kabul
