Got a call - computer generated voice recording.

Supposedly from the Treasury Department.

The voice says you've been selected to receive a grant of 9K but you have to hurry up and call back to register.

---> Here's the weird part. Then it says 'I'll wait 20 seconds while you go get something to write on.

The 20 seconds expires and you're given the number 443-295-3767 - which is a non working number.

So, what am I missing? What's the scam here? And that 20 second thing?

Thanks - no big deal really I'm just curious.

peace

Premium rate number to call back?
Call back and they ask for personal details to receive the money?
It's a scam for sure, just this time pretending to be the treasury dept and not a Nigerian prince lol

Using the "quote" function on your first post, it seems to me that the reverse arrow symbol must have disabled display for the rest of the post, for some reason. Best not to use it again.

Not sure if this is the case but I have heard that some scams like this charge your bill for the call you make.

Hopefully being a non working number this is not the case.

The charge for calling that number. Have checked how much it costs? In the UK we have these things. If you reply to a call or a text you incur a very high charge. They even have the "reply with Stop to stop these texts"......yeah right. F off scammer. Set the number for ignore on your phone, delete the texts and calls from history.

The cia is randomly calling people hoping to find a specific type of mind. That 20 sec wasn't silent . If you had been one of the rare few an idea would slowly come into your mind over the next few weeks. You would then do something terrible and completely outside of your character and never know why you needed to do it. Good luck.

They could be trying to triangulate to your position. They probably need 20 seconds to do this.

Ditch the phone and get in your car and drive west taking backroads only!

I got the same phone call, but it was a real person speaking in broken English. When she told me about the $9K, she asked me if I understood. I am careful never to yes, because there is a scam where people are trying to get your voice saying yes, for voice activated purchases, so I said "I don't believe you!" She hung up! HAHA!

Really? They just ROLLED up and introduced themselves with me.

Of course they didn't LOOK like agents. They were disguised as Vivint Alarm salesmen.

....Wanting to stick SPY gadgets in my HOUSE ... and have me PAY them for the "privlige"? The undercover man CLAIMED it would make my house SAFE from robbers...Riiiiiight.

Yeah. NO THANK YOU!

(I am joking, of course)

Definitely a scam, if any company(s) ask you to phone them back then usually they want something from you, money most of the time or insurance details.

There is a dot.com using that number,
Easydropdiet.Com is located at the address 7383 E Glacier Park Ct in Sahuarita, Arizona 85629. They can be contacted via phone at (443) 295-3767 for pricing, hours and directions.

I will add the IP address is; 184.168.221.45. That server appears to have a raft of sites that seem to have no real activity..including the above. I would report to someone in authority other than the server. the server is static, GODADDY.COM is the company.

You think it's a non working number so you try multiple times.. Every time getting charged a premium rate..
Definitely a scam.. anytime you are offered free money via phone call, text or email.. 100% scam.
