Audio has surfaced from a speech given at the Canberra press gallery’s Midwinter Ball which I guess is similar to the White House correspondents dinner in the US , the event is informal and meant to be lighthearted and off the record so the comments in his speech should be seen in that context although I doubt the butt of the joke will be amused.

I guess following Trumps comment about his phone call to Turnbull being "the worst call by far” it could be a bit of payback

Winning !

So much for MAGA and making the USA respected and feared by the world.......

Trump has instead turned the USA into a giant joke! Every nation on earth is mocking him.

Hell even North Korea are launching ballitic tests every week as they think him a giant joke.

Yeah I don't think the rest of the world just started laughing at the US because of Trump, you had a Clinton then Bush and Obama
You can't hide them away

As for the Aussie PM, he would say anything to win over the media and try gain some attention, any type of attention at all, anything as long as it's not about his policies or lack thereof

It seems that every election your Presidents get more and more retarded.

Whats next? A down syndrome president? A president in coma? A down syndrome president in a coma? That where your heading.

As a member of the rest of the world I disagree , nobody as far as I'm aware laughed at Obama or Clinton , Bush was mocked but deservedly so.
I think you need to be outside the bubble to see the bubble.

Yeah, Dubya was resoundingly mocked by the rest of world. And rightly so.

Obama wasn't mocked hardly at all. He was well liked by the rest of the world.

What i say the whole time, you just can take such a show with humour, as a sane person. And wait that the problem in the former US solves itself.

Like the whole sane wold does meanwhile, as you can see. Now even the allies of the former US start to joke about the "great leader of the free world"(can´t describe how i have to laugh writing this). As a sane and at least a bit educated person you can´t take all that trash in the former US, around Trump, serious anymore!

"The year is 2017 A.C. The "free world" is almost entirely occupied by sane people. Well, not entirely... One small spot of indomitable Trumpists still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the sane people who try to rescue the majority of sane people in the fortified camps of Texas, New Mexico, Kentucky, Louisiana, Alabama, Wyoming, South Carolina, West Virginia, Georgia, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, the Trump Tower and Mar a Lago..."

Really? I suggest there's been a whole bunch of U.S. laughing at you 'blokes' by us with some of the policy decisions that have come out of your left wing gov't.

The reason you haven't seen it posted is Australia is a non-factor when it comes to important issues. Just saying.

Wow. I didn't know that Australia just started prohibiting protests. That's nothing to laugh about. What a backwards society.

The rest of the world are laughing at how you US citizens are bickering and whinging amongst yourselves instead of looking forward to the future.

Pathetic....

Try taking off your blinkers, be more open minded and growing up: To partisans from both sides...!

You are all acting like spoilt brats fighting over a candy bar.

Work together instead of dividing...

Snotty responses will be not answered... you ALL need your stubborn heads knocked together... That is all.

No, not really...basically everyone I know hated the guy. You just couldn't mock him for fear of being called "racist".

I'm British but don't let a little detail like that stop you , Trump supporters like their messiah don't do detail very well.

No big deal, everything in context
Occurred at the Canberra press gallery's Midwinter Ball on Wednesday night. It was a charity fundraising event, raised $400,000

www.9news.com.au...

Mr Turnbull told 3AW radio today his speech was a "good humoured roast".
"(It was) light-hearted, affectionately light-hearted," Mr Turnbull told host Tom Elliott.
"It's a breach of protocol, it's a breach of faith and all those things, but it's light-hearted, affectionate, good natured.
"The butt of my jokes was myself.
"It was fun, we've got to lighten up."

The US Embassy said it was not concerned by the prime minister's speech.
"We understand that last night's event is equivalent to our own White House Correspondents' Dinner," an embassy spokesperson said. "We take this with the good humour that was intended."

Semantics, my friend, and a deflection from the real point, as well. Seems you Brits like forwarding your claptrap.

At least we have a 'messiah'. On the other hand, the U.K. is taking Mr. Crapper's invention to a national extreme....
