I agree. Its time for some sane, middle road compromise. Nobody will get everything they want, but we will be able to live together. Political extremes always breed violence and societal conflict. Sometimes total destruction.

So many people think there is a utopia, if only everyone would agree with them. But there is no utopia. Utopia is a delusion of the fanatical.

What can one really say here ?

Definitely take politics too seriously if one goes around shooting others over their political beliefs.

I can't seem to feel bad.

Congressman don't deserve to get shot.

But I ask who are the real victims here ?

Maybe Mr. and Mrs America need to reflect on politics in general.

Words have consequences.

Militaries use FMJ because it inflicts a wound but does not necessarily kill. This necessitates on average 2 other combatants to tend to/carry off the gsw victim. That takes at least 3 guys out of the fight. Oh, and it's more "humane". The "tumbling" high-velocity theory has been around since the M16 was first introduced with varying degrees of success, depending on who you talk to.

If you're unsure as to the potential of right-wing extremists to carry out violent acts, I'd like to let you know about a little thing called the KKK, and this other little thing that's happened once or twice where some Christian zealot walks into an abortion clinic and starts slaughtering people

Yeah your right you said leftist extremists were kkk, no wait. I was right.

Don't pretend to have any insight to my "assumptions." Instead of assuming what you think I meant, stick to what I said.

Posted it verbatim so you can so you can see how you didn't use the word assume. You said right wing extremists were kkk. lol They are also lefties. You could call them bipartisan.

I know it's a rare thing on ATS, but I'm one of those folks that says what I mean without any need for others to come along and interpret what they think I really meant with my post. It makes it easier to attack another person's comments when you ignore what they've said and substitute your own version of their comment, but it's pathetically lazy. No need for that, give that gray matter a little exercise.

So saying you are wrong and disagreeing with you, is attacking you? lol. That pretty much says it all. You need thicker skin sunshine.

'Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what can you do for your country'...##snipped##

I wonder if you would have the balls to say that to our fellow Americans that serve their country in the military, who happen to also have liberal/Leftist beliefs. How about police officers or firemen that serve our communities, often at their own sacrifice?

What you posted does not give us a solution or provide a bridge to heal the divide.

What you posted is proof that intolerance can be found on both sides of the political spectrum.

Almost as long here and you are right.....things have not ever been as bad or as divisive as they are now except for maybe back in the decade or so before the Civil War (granted I wasn't there to see it first hand), which contrary to popular belief was not solely about slavery as much as it was a general political division between the North and the South. God help us all if we don't learn from history and go down that road again......

The 60s were all fun and games?

No, it had it's share of riots for sure (wasn't there first hand for that either) but violent shootings of government officials spurred on by an opposing political ideology wasn't commonplace either. And before someone points to JFK or Robert Kennedy those have not been PROVEN to be politically motivated (conspiracy theories set aside). The Black Panthers don't count either as that was racial and not political in nature.

Not the church - I think this one is more related to left wing terrorism. I would certainly start investigating his associates and any organisations he was working for. Yes.

What we see today is all that and more that is pretty much all coming from the left because it started from the left under Obama.

Sure it's mostly left. Doesn't make hatred correct.

Had Hillary or Bernie won, imagine who would be throwing it.

Maybe if Congress would actually do something useful, much of this would die down.

The rule of thumb is the followers of the party out of office stirs the pot.

Liberal snowflakes need to understand that they aren't special and nobody 'deserves' anything.

Here is the problem...

1. One leader group on the left is the facility of higher education that "know" they are the smartest people in the world, they know what is best for America because they are the smartest, Why doesn't those 300 million dimwits follow them!!! Just ask that PHD business professor who knows more than those stupid and ignorant CEOs..He would be the best CEO if he wasn't so in love with teaching...lol

2. Another is 99% of Hollywood who are talented and of course that means they too are the smartest people around and we need to follow their lead since they truly know what is best for the sheep. It doesn't help that they are the most privilege group on the planet too. Here is a 300k goody bag for showing up, thank you, thank you! They deserve EVERYTHING and get EVERYTHING...

3. The rich that use the poor to get rich...They are like evangelists that rake in the millions, tell people how they should live a meek life style to save the planet and then of course they do what they want since they can afford it... 8 years under Clinton and the poor were not better, 8 years under Obama and not only the poor wasn't better but 1/2 the middle class became poorer. Yeah!! More poor votes for the left... I really do not hear anyone from the left even remotely having interest in a good conversation about George Soros...he that shall not be named...

This is where all the left constructs, rhetoric and talking points come from and why we are so divided....

It's all Trump. I know that's not fair. I know we all want it to be equal. But it was Trump who used hate to win an election. And now this rising tide of hate is ALL his. Whether it comes from his side or the other side. Trump's lack of leadership, his lack of wisdom, and his penchant for conflict DID this.

Trump should own this. He should grow from it. But he won't. Because he's not a leader.

Aaaand we now have MSM talking points!

Just a little truth for people who can't handle it.

I don't think it's all Trump, although he is a big part of the problem here. But right wing media that went on full hate mode while Obama was in Office. Trump is just a byproduct of that but not the root cause.

As president he has a job to at least TRY to keep the country united. He instead used hate and division to win an election. He villifies all who oppose him. If he was a true leader he would show a real sense of unity. A real appreciation for differing points of view. I guarantee he continues to be the divisive little sh#t he's always been.

Actually, I agree. Trump was very divisive and used hate to his advantage in the campaign.

But we cannot blame him for this. This was the act of an obviously disturbed individual. One could hope Trump would see how polarized we have become and change his tune a bit, but to blame him would be missing the forest for the trees.

You're being the good guy and I applaud you for it. I don't disagree with you at all.

Trump didn't pull the trigger. Trump is simply the guy running his mouth, stirring the pot of division, while pushing policies that hurt people.

Oh man. Try reading it one more time. Particularly that part where I pointed out that the fellas that started the KKK were democrats, and then that part where I explained how democrats used to be small-goverment conservatives.

And lemme help with that little flailing attempt at a gotcha you tried: no, what I said is that you should stick to what is said, instead of making things up that weren't actually said and trying to pivot from there to attack somebody. The irony of doing it again right after it was pointed out. Lulz and such

You need to bone up on your history, snowflake.
