I dont know about that one!

My Alaskan Malamute sits in the backyard and stares up at the night sky and even howls at the moon.
At least he displays all the same symptoms of a dog enjoying a nice star-gaze.

If I look up a tree my dog runs to the base of the tree, looks up the tree and starts barking. He's a bloodhound/coonhound so he's been bred to chase things up trees and keep them there.

I guess that's not the same as looking at the sky, though he has jumped at birds flying over and can catch a fly ball.

Wow, I just saw that you posted this, crazy timing with my last post.

The barking in the vid is making my dog very excited!

Better go kill something...

I was going to post treeing bear or mountain lion instead. Pure coincidence about timing...

my neighbors dog is a yorkie. She has long hair that covers her eyes most of the time. As you say, she doesn't have the range of motion to lookup and have that hair moved away so she can see you, so she flops to the ground, rolls over and shows you her titties. She is not only able to see you, but she is able to shame you into rubbing her belly at the same time.

That's not the same thing.

Joke aside, my dogs can look up just fine. Every time I was on the roof working on the house, it's three stories, I would whistle down to them and they were able to look up and see me just fine. Also, as other posters have pointed out, they have looked up to see birds flying by.

you have quite the affinity for your roof. what's up with that?

I used to have a dog that plucked low flying birds out of the sky, He pretty much had to look up to do that I think.

This joke is from the movie Shaun of the dead.

Please don't pass off other people's sense of humour as your own, it's tacky.

Carry on.

In my experiences, it seems that the shorter the dog is, then the more range of motion in the neck they have (i.e. ~ the higher up they can look.)
