I know this is probably an old video but it's relevant nevertheless because there are anti gun folks that wanna use religion as an excuse to get rid of guns.

This guy is a fool. I think he should realize that this is not la la land/Heaven where people are singing Kumbaya. This guy should realize that we are living among people that want to harm us.

Maybe in heaven if you believe in such a thing we don't need guns but in Earth:

Luke 22:36-38

"“But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."

Remain armed at all times, even if it means selling the clothes off your back.

A lot of people are armed in New York without the governments approval, we call them criminals. A normal law abiding citizen will not get a gun permit in NYC. unless your famous or a politician, you know the protected class.

Exactly what came to my mind.

Meh, the US is loaded with leftist nut jobs posing as "Christians"; they're not "Christians" to begin with, but that doesn't stop them from pushing their agenda from behind the cloth. Reminds me of Elmer Gantry. Google it.

I got my C.C.W. while attending a Christian church that offered the classes
to anyone interested in getting it.

It is a pretty big debate amongst theologians weather Christians should use weapons at all...

If I'm right it was a major concern when Christianity went from being in the minority, to the ruling power in anchient Rome.

You can't run a nation by turning the other cheek...

So that is a valid interpretation.

It's amazing to me how people just take any line from the bible, completely without any regard to the context in which it is written and use it as if it not only applies to every situation now, but that it was meant as some kind of lesson to learn all on it's own.

It's the ultimate form of cherry picking select information and applying it where it doesn't belong.

Also, how do you actually come to terms with the conflict between Jesus saying "Turn the other cheek and love your enemies" and "Remain armed at all times"??? Clearly there is a conflicting message there that doesn't make much sense. How do you hold both those ideas at the same time as being correct??? Or does that even matter to you???

Defending yourself is not hating your enemies. You don't have to kill them with the sword; merely subdue them and win then. Even police officers used to do the same when aiming for appendages instead of the head or heart.

If you think of the Jedi Philosophy, while they preach against hate, it is an obligation to defend yourself and others against an attacker.

In fact that's why I follow the Jedi Philosophy, at least is more straight to the point regarding self defense.

If you read that passage in context of what is happening in that story, that isn't what he's saying to his followers. It's made even more clear that he isn't saying "People should always be armed" by the fact that when his followers say, "Jesus, here are two swords." He responds with, "That is enough."

Two swords aren't gonna do any good when going to face an army. There are a couple of way people interpret what is happening in that passage and it's not "To be armed at all times."

Nor is it one of his teachings. It's meant for that one instance before they go and get arrested.

You can't just pull a single line from the story as if it's some universal teaching.

"Use the potty, son."

You're right. I only mean that at home. The rest of the time, I really hope he #s his britches.

It's really hard to believe that leftist preachers exist or gather congregations.

I mean all the left does is bash Christianity while defending islam.

Sure. That's all they do.

Bash Christianity and support Islam.

The fact that you can say that with a straight face when obviously there are probably 10's of thousands of left leaning Christians just in the US alone.

But rather than adjust your flawed theory you just ignore that fact and continue to think like you do. Not even a hint that maybe what you just said is slightly incorrect and needs some adjustment. Nope. Just gonna keep believing that Left Leaning Christians actually bash their own religion while supporting Islam. Amazing statement, really.

You call this man a fool?

Simply because you don't agree with his position on this issue.

You sound 'offended' that he uses religious arguments and references.

Religion is used to 'justify' everything - why should 'guns' be any different.

Perhaps you are the fool.

I found this video interesting. I had just finished watching another video a couple hours ago that was saying something a bit different.

This video is part of the Brevard County Sheriff's program for making gun ownership safe for the general community. Keep in mind this is rural America.

And righty nut jobs too.

Christ was neither right or left. He was above such petty worldly politics.

He was neither for or against owning weapons either. Only against the use of violence.

It makes me laugh how many Americans call themselves "Christian" yet do the opposite of his teaching.

C'mon.

Everyone knows Jesus was a Republican.
