Trump said to Comey:

“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”

"Hope", not an order or even a request.

I "hope" Trump didn't fire him for not "letting it go".

If these are your choice excerpts, then we can quickly put this to bed. No obstruction and Trump is not under investigation - something he was being truthful about in his "BS" termination letter.

Wasn't under investigation at that time. Things may have changed.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself. This is long from being over.

If we take Comey at his word and these accounts are true, it becomes obvious that Trump is a very insecure little man.

Comey has proven to be honorable in his approach to this and it's a shame he was fired for being so.

Wow... Comey is a f#cking coward and i hope he throws the DNC under the bus to rectify that. He likes money more then justice that much is clear.

I do think the President was showing some insecurity - but I don't blame him for being nervous of leaks and also the false narrative being pushed by media that he was under investigation. I also think it's clear he did not trust Comey - and would have been wiser to fire him immediately on Jan 20th. That WAS a mistake.

Overall though, he's got no issues to worry about if the left want to insult him for being an 'insecure little man'. Unless opinions from those that hate him now drive impeachment proceedings. On the contrary, the left have so overplayed this that it's going to help him.

It sounds like, based on Comey's testimony, that what irked Trump most was that Comey wouldn't come out and announce that Trump wasn't personally under investigation. That seems to comport well with the heavily contrived bulls# termination letter that was leaked to the press by the WH.

I get the same impression. And honestly, I'm on Trump's side. The MSM was & is using the investigation to imply that Trump is some kind of undercover Russian agent. Trump wanted Comey to announce something along the lines of, "Yo, people! We're investigating Michael Flynn. Donald Trump is not under investigation." And this would apparently be a true statement.

Yeah all the holdovers of Obama need to be fired asap. Obama clearly had too much influence over the whole party.

He's not going to throw the DNC under the bus and he's not a coward.

He was simply doing his job in both this case and the Hillary case and just like the whiny Liberals at that time, you're crying like a baby for what he has to say.

Comey's a good man.

Sounds to me Trump just wants to do his job, but all these witch hunts are hindering his ability to do so. All the while being able to trust his closest advisors and appointees to complete the mission he has vowed to uphold.

The President needed no reason to fire him. If he wanted he could fire him for being too tall.

On the morning of April 11, the President called me and asked what I had done about his request that I “get out” that he is not personally under investigation. I replied that I had passed his request to the Acting Deputy Attorney General, but I had not heard back.

has Rosenstein corroborated this?

Rosenstein was not the acting AG at the time. It was Dana Boente I believe.

I'll give you that. He wasn't under investigation, but it does appear that the media got a lot right in their reporting, including Comey's memos.

I'm not insulting him. I'm commenting on the vibe Comey lays-out in this release. You can read. Trump was obsessed and insecure about certain aspects.

And I still would not put your cart before the horse just yet. This is not over.

I agree, but "Smooth" thought he could stand the pressure.

On a side note, I once new a old 6er who hung out at a certain bar on the beach in Tel Aviv.
Just saying.

That would be discrimination.

Yeah i'm so sorry for wanting justice for all the people that the DNC and the Clintons "silenced." You people are delusional and live in a alternative reality.

Only if he stated that as the reason - but the fact remains he can fire Comey for any reason he wants and is not even required to say why.

AND Comey is going to say Trump said he was 'Not involved with hookers'

Comey will also testify that the president told him that he was considering ordering the then-director to investigate allegations contained in a shadowy dossier believed to be drawn to some extent from unverified and likely erroneous information circulated by Russian intelligence.

The president reportedly told Comey that he had not been involved with prostitutes in Russia, which is one of the claims contained in the dossier — which has been widely treated as dubiously-sourced at best.

WHY Mr. President bring THIS up? If it's so utterly untrue? WHY? Hm...

Strange things people!!

There is one sentence in this statement that is very, very important....

We concluded that, given it was a one-on-one conversation, there was nothing available to corroborate my account.

Comey is very careful at the beginning of the statement to make sure he documents that he DID NOT make notes when meeting with obama. In fact he details his meetings with obama as well.

That is not information that has anything to do with trump or russia at all.

I think comey put this in because he knows what is coming with respect to hillary/lynch/rice ect and he is building a base for that.

We will see lots of bitterness after the Thursday hearings.

I fully expect Maxine Waters to pull out a gun and shoot Comey on the spot

Hopefully she shoots herself soon after.
