...and yet most Republican and some Democratic vets show unwavering support for the President according to a new Pew Research Poll published in the Washington Times.

www.washingtontimes.com...

President Trump has some unwavering support from a very unique demographic: Republican military veterans. An extensive new Pew Research Center reveals that 98 percent of these GOP vets approve of the job Mr. Trump is doing. He has some fans across the greater population of vets as well. The poll also found that 54 percent of them also approve of the president. Another 47 percent of independent vets and 10 percent of Democratic vets approve of the president.

But another poster said that polls are fake news?

Man, it's so hard to follow the rampantly inconsistent logic.

No way the military communities swing to Democrats. There is a difference between disappointed and stupid.

I don't know about that. I agree that so far they haven't taken enough hits to switch, but for the right moderate Democrat, and enough screw up's on Trumps side... I could see it happening.

Like one could get out of the primaries with the nomination? I'm serious, the way the DNC has their primary set up, with all of the power and choice riding on the party's super delegates and with the huge liberal strongholds like New York, California, and Illinois, there isn't likely to a moderate Democrat on the POTUS ticket for a very long time. Hell, Joe Donnely and Joe Manchin are the only ones that spring to mind and their own national party treats them like pariahs... the only reason they're in DC is because they are paleoDemocrats running in conservative leaning states.

Trump has underwater approval numbers, yet he beats Hillary in the same polls more soundly than he did in the election. Even if you disapprove of Trump, it doesn't mean you approve of, or will vote for the socialists. It really doesn't matter what Trump's approval numbers are, as long as they are higher than the socialist he will be running against.

This. Dem leadership doesn't realize how much the average voter, even if they weren't a Sanders fan, despised what went down in that primary. I know Hillary supporters who thought that was disgusting. And Republicans took very obvious note of it as well. Party leadership did not want Trump, but the voters overrode them. Dem leaders didn't want Sanders, and they overrode the voters. And then they have the gaul to lecture us about defending our democracy over this fake Russia #.

As for military support, as someone who got out very recently and still knows a lot of military folks, anecdotally I can tell you Trump's support with the military is very strong. As someone else already mentioned, the communities may not appreciate losing commerce from a base closure, but that doesn't diminish their patriotism and awareness for how important our military is. They saw firsthand how crippled our military was under the last Democrat president. They won't vote for a Democrat over a Republican because their local base got closed.

Very true. The media doesn't seem to understand that approval rating isn't necessarily an indicator of whether you'd vote for that person or not.
