One news outlet in Rome claimed a large fire had erupted at an auto garage or wrecking yard near the walls of the Vatican
An unconfirmed report claims the fire is "burning in a car yard" a couple of kilometres away from the Vatican.

Edit: Reports coming in that it was a fire at a car wrecking depot. Doesn't explain the loud booms people heard though.

The are typically drained but if there is a small amount left that is more dangerous than a full tank since as the remaining fuel warms it becomes a large volume of vapor which is very volatile.
