This is a bit spooky.....

Man Who Shot Pope Sends Cryptic Letter

ISTANBUL, Turkey — The Turkish man who shot Pope John Paul II (search) in 1981 released a cryptic statement Thursday wishing the hospitalized pontiff a speedy recovery and urging him to tell the world that its end was near.

Mehmet Ali Agca (search) was extradited to Turkey in 2000 after serving almost 20 years in Italy for the May 13, 1981, shooting of the pope in St. Peter's Square. Agca fired two shots, one of which hit the pope in the abdomen as he rode through the square in an open car.

Agca's motives for the attack remain unclear. The pope later forgave Agca for the attack during a meeting.

Agca currently is serving a separate prison sentence for murdering a Turkish journalist and committing two robberies in Turkey in 1979.

In a brief statement — handwritten in Italian and faxed to The Associated Press on Thursday by his attorney, Mustafa Demirbag — Agca wished the pope well.

"You and I suffer for the realization of a universal divine plan. I wish you a speedy recovery," he said.

"Now you have to confirm the Divine Truth that we are at the end of the world. This is the last generation of humanity on planet Earth. Only like this will God give you health and miraculous strength for the coming years."

Sounds like the stuff conspiracies are made of......

Bizarre. It would be easy to read a satanic plot to kill the pope and replace him with the antichrist into this, but it's probably just the raving of a lunatic.

Fascinating, thank you for the post. There's something very very weird with the Pope, almost as if he is not completely absorbed into the Illuminati web...or perhaps transcends it. I will keep this new story on file for future reference.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that God and only God knew that exact year/day or w/e that the world will come to an "End"

You have to realize that either this guy:

1.) Is a loony psycho nut. This guy attempted to murder the Pope and successfully killed a Turkish journalist and committed two robberies. There is nothing sacred about this guy. He's just some thug.

2.) Or we can go with the highly unlikely and believe that this guy knows something that we don’t and that's why he tried killing the Pope decades ago. But if this is so, then why would he try to kill the Pope then wish him 'strength and vitality for the coming years'?

Maybe this nut beleives the conspiracy that the pope was swaped in the 70's? It sounds absurd but some think this isnt the original pope.

Who knows.

What would it matter if hes the Original pope or not? He has no absolute power at all, hes just a figure head thats all. Hes no more powerfull then the Queen Of England.

The Pope who was supposedly replaced in 72 was Paul VI. Since then we have had John-Paul I (believed murdered after a month in office) and JP2.

The Queen and the Pope may not seem powerful in the rather illusory world of everyday politics and news.

In the shadowy world of secret politics, blood ties, and secret societies, these two individuals must be looked at in another light altogether.

That article was kinda creepy but i doubt there is anything to it and if there is than we will see it soon enough.

On to the other topic at hand...i agree. the pope doesnt have any power. I am a christian but not catholic and to me the pope is just a puppet. Its the people behind the scenes that do the real damage. The whole idea that there is even supposed to be a pope is just to control people and it is utterly ridiculous. Just another distortion to what i consider to be the truth. In my opinon you are supposed to worship God, not man, and not a statute of mary. but that is a whole other subject that i am just going to leave alone for right now. lol!

Thanks for reading.

Digitalgrl that is what we muslims do. We worship God not mohammed as that would be against the ideas of our religion.

Good for all of you.

Personally I beleive that Pope Jean-Paul II is exactly who he says he is.
He is my Pope, leader of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Infalible "when he speaks the word of God".

If Satan wants to do away with him he must do it as part of God's will. The shooter was nothing but a tool of the evil one.

I'm not triing to convert any of you, just don't mock my beliefs.

im not a big fan of catholicsm, although i am a huge fan of christianity. To me, an ex-catholic, Catholiscm is just filled with blatent abuses of the bible. When on earth did Jesus ever tell Peter to create a hierarchy of the church. NEVER! It is just used for power on this planet, and as holy as some may think these men to be, they too will be judged.

I'm not Catholic any longer, although raised as such; but I'd personally not chalk those words up to lunacy so easily.

But for the Pope to make an admission of the end times would be futile on face value. No, this man is looking for a deeper realization of the information that motivated his initial effort. If he was wrong in what he did, or if he was right doesn't matter now. The Pope and he are connected forever now, and they both know it.

We still must watch this pope pass, sooner than we think.

Then the world will be shocked by the ultra short reign of Gloria olivae, who believes himself to be the one to restore the olive branch of peace, but cannot be allowed to do so.

Then the roman will return, joyous laughter from him as we perish to near-nothingness. Embracing all that the Torah and the Parables of Christ speak in condemnation of.

Or at least that's one way it can all go down.

Who knows, not you, not me.

I agree, i too am not a catholic but i am a huge fan and participator in christianity. As far as what tom cat said, i know muslims worship their believed god, but IMOP dont judge christianity by looking a catholisim. Catholisism again IMOP has moved away from Christianity. Christianity is my basis of belief and i dont plan on converting to islam any time soon. but again that is a whole other subject that i am not going to get into right now

Agca was refering to the moslem teaching that Islam must take the world for Allah, converting all men by teaching or the sword, and removing by death all who opppose them. What you are seeing from radical islam in Indonesia, Africa, the Philipines, Europe, and especially the middle east, is their attempt to establish a third caliphate or world rule. Although the movement appears broken into various factions there is a central theme throughout.

By his comments that he and the Pope must both suffer he was saying that the Pope, as leader of much of christendom, stood in the way of Islam's mission and had to be removed. Therefore the Pope had to suffer the wounds of the failed attempt on his life.

Agca meant that his own suffering was the imprisonment that came as a result of his "devotion" to "the will of Allah" and his failed attempt and capture which resulted in imprisonment and suffering.

That is how he perceived that both had to suffer because of Allah's plan.

Islam teaches that Jesus Christ's return is imminent, but that he will return and order his followers to convert to Islam.

Interestingly Judaism expects the Messiah momentarily, and the period of His kingdom will be a 1000 year reign they call The Great Shabbat...or 1000 years of peace, rest and wholeness.

The vast majority of christendom is expecting the imminent return of Jesus Christ. A substantial portion of them believe that He will reign in the earth 1000 years and call that the millennial kingdom.

Some believe that His return will signal the fulfilling of the apocalyptic happenings of the Book of Revelation. However, a goodly portion of them recognize and teach that there is a 1000 year period of peace and harmony in the earth that is prophesied in scripture that has not yet been fulfilled. They tie that to the return of Jesus Christ.

The interesting part is that all three major monotheistic religions are expecting the arrival on the world scene of a figure like Jesus Christ. Their interpretations vary.

I am attempting to cover a huge theological ground in a small space in order to answer a question. I mean no insult to either group by an inept explanation of their beliefs.
