This years super bowl would make one hell of a symbolic attack...

A terrorist could attack just about everything America stands for at this game.

Both teams names have meaning. The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.

The cities were the two most important in our nations creation.

The superbowl is the most watched TV program in the world.

It would be their own version of shock and awe, what with 200+ million Americans watching it live.

Baseball may be Americas pass time, but football is our passion.

The only thing that could make this a more inviting target would be if it were in NYC, LA, or DC.

Thats really creepy that everything in the game has a patriotic meaning of some sort. Now I will be watching the Super Bowl to see if anything happens.

The only attack thats going to happen at this super bowl is the Patriots beating the heck out of the Eagles.

Now that I have that out of my system, you guys are totally right. I have always been concerned about attacks on large events. I dont understand how it can be ignored. I went to a company picknick last summer. 800 people in an event hall with zero security (one cop outside helping with traffic) and the entire time I was wondering how amazingly easy it would be to be attacked right then. Ever since I have been weary of large crowds/events.

What an efficient time to role out a WMD. Im sure there will be a couple hundred thousand people within a few blocks of the stadium easy.

You know considering that al-queda has already stolen the plot events from one clancy book (Debt of honor -9/11 attacks) I would not be surprised if they try to steal another (Sum of all fears)

As morbid as that is, thats damn funny!!! Wouldnt that just be it? Finally win, then moments later "it" happens. Actually, it cant happen, only New Englands teams have that kind of luck!!

This has been said for every bowl since 2002. I think if it was to have been done, it would have been done.

I think this will be very effective as far as the NWO is concerned.

Killing thousands including Paul McCartney during a super bowl that has a "theme of building bridges."

Couch potatos will be beging to institute a draft so they can go to war with Iran.

But then again maybe it'll just be another boring football halftime.

I'm really far behind in the news ... where will the Super Bowl be held? In a blue state or a red state?

Ever since 9/11 the Super Bowl has had MAJOR security. This year will not be any different. Yes, AQ could make a major impact if they hit the super bowl but they won't even try because a) it would be too obvious, b) they'll go for a soft target to add to the shock factor.

I checked the forcast for Hell on sunday. It said extremely hot. I guess the Eagles aint gonna win....

I like the reference to the Clancy novels too...that is so true, but I think they would try something more like what was in Teeth of the Tiger about Ryan's son, with the smuggling over the border and such.

I believe Bin Laden knows enough about our culture to know that if he did this, he'd totally tick off every guy in the US beyond belief.....all you men would probably bomb every cubby hole that an arab could hide in no matter where it was at!! Enlistment rates would skyrocket!! Every white male in the US would want blood!

hey, I really ain't that big on football, but if they do anything to prevent me from enojoying all the commercials (which I hope are better than last year), I will be totally peeved!!! We have to put up with their stupid commercials all year, and well, it's like the super bowl is our big payoff for the year....the commercials finally have a little entertainment value.

First up, NOT just the Super Bowl, but any new massive scale attack at this point would galvanize the USA in a way that the world wont like. Im pretty sure getting international support after an attack of massive scale wouldnt be too difficult.

And Ill tell you what: Every guy I know would be in line ASAP at the recruiters, including myself, if an attack happened at this years game. And if you arent with us, you will be against us and be treated as such. Heavan help who doesnt get on board...

He would be scared #~less with all these huge drinking beer foaming at the mouth guy'z watching the super bowl "live" man if they though for a second he was and was captured in the act....dam bet they throw him on the field and brob. use him as the football.

Al Qaeda is not concerned with taking out the Super Bowl, security is too high and the target too obvious.

I think Richard Clarke was absolutely right when he said that the next waves of attacks will be against soft targets that are a pivotol aspect of our economy. Trains, malls, casinos, theme parks, subways, and overseas oil infrastructure. They want to bankrupt our economy and get a high body count while doing it. They know it works because since 9/11 we have reached record deficits and our President continually blames the stock and job market losses afterwards on Osama Bin Laden. To take one look at our GDP, and you realize just what really sets this country apart from the rest of the world. Not the media and not our military not our civil liberties and not our government, but our economy. No one else is even remotely close to us in that regard. The Bin Ladens and the Zarqawis of the world think that if they can break our economy, everything else will wither and die.
