I have been loving this song forever. I used to have the casessette I would jam to it in my car. (Hell I can't even spell it anymore)

Where I live they play it all the time.

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Good stuff! I like this band a lot. There's nothing like driving through the mountains to great tunes. Nothing beats the silence of good music.

Awesome tune and a great band.

That's a mega compliment from me. I'm a Detroit techno freak normally.
I hadn't seen that version before. Is it that song that has a video of the singer staring, stony faced right into the camera as he walks down the street oblivious to everything around him just singing away?

If it is, I like that one. Must've been done in quite a few takes to get it right. Brilliant idea.

The strings are a genius addition too. Really makes for a big sound.

Cheers

Wow that's awesome, thanks man. Totally cool of you to share that!

Yeah this band is genius, amazing rhythm and beat. They sync perfectly. No doubt they did a few retakes to get this right, and glad they did. I'm decisive on who I listen to, but this band nailed it perfectly.

Cheers!

Thanks but I couldn't bear it - heavy feedback starts at around 10 sec mark...
So I had to listen to the original...

Yaaay! That's the one.
Its funny, that's not exactly how I remembered it but it still an excellent video (and song) and original, too.

Thanks for that, and cheers for the thread RM, not a word about politics.

I prefer The Rolling Stones original.

It's an age thing.

I'd have to respectfully disagree.
That cover really nails it for me.

Incidentally, I saw the Stones in 82 with J Giels Band and Black Uhuru at Wembley.
JGB had centrefold in the charts but were totally awesome to hear live.
Black Uhuru absolutely blew me away and started a love of reggae that persists to this day.
By the time the Stones came on I was kinda underwhelmed by them and felt like leaving early but had to wait for the others I was with.

Takes allsorts I suppose.

I adopted this as my theme song when it first came out. Love it. It's comfort when you need, wallowing when you need or kind of an inspiring learning to live with yourself as you are when you need. That's always been my take anyway.

Great version, thanks for sharing.

Over the last year or two I've been changing a lot in strange ways.

Like with all types of celebrities, I find it so weird how we treat them.
For example some band plays a good song and suddenly they are more important than average people.
Or some guy or gal stars in a movie and now we idolize them.

This behavior is repeated everywhere, from corporate world to politics to painting or whatever.
When we like something someone does, we direct a bizarre form of attention towards them.
We praise and adore them, and defend them from critics.

Now I totally understand why I treat my children this way, because it's my job to do that for them so they grow up knowing they have someone supporting and loving them - but I still cannot figure out why we do this for people we've never even met.

I think everyone is guilty of this as well, including me. I cannot think of one person that doesn't exhibit this behavior.

But I can easily imagine an advanced alien culture on another world that does not do this at all.
That's probably one aspect that makes it really weird to me.

That song Bitter Sweet Symphony somehow elicited this comment from me.
That's even weirder.
