You really never know what someone is going through. Hope the man rests in peace.

You are so right about that, for sure. I hope wherever he is, he's in a better place.

Your vision (not sure if that's the proper word) is fascinating.
I'll be watching for the details. Mind boggling if you are correct again.

Damn, now I see that some reports are saying the cause of death may have been suicide.

Really hope that's not true. He just finished a show!

Sources confirm to 7 Action News that Cornell died at MGM Grand Detroit following a show at the Fox Theatre. Detroit police say he died from an apparent suicide.

www.wxyz.com...

Not liking that at all. If confirmed, I wonder what pushed him over the edge.

Too damn sad.

When I first listened to this I was like such a small kid. I was playing Road Rush and this was the intro. I found the music clip in the cd as well while digging around for other game clips so I could watch them.

Like a Stone was the first song I played with my first band in high school. Even my mom imitates Chris every other day by shouting "Thank you!" fast and in a deep voice. Man... Sleep tight.

I wish then, you could tell me when I will go.

I'm not famous, but I don't think it is far away. not being facetious either, seriously.

Have to wonder though, why is it we only envision the famous people or people close to us before they die, and not someone around the other side of the planet. Our dreams would be filled with it, I suppose.

idk... but see if you do. because I know if I change for the better, I'm done in. so better the life walked, than change my path....

RIP Chris. inspired me with so many songs.

Yesterday I found an old Temple of the Dog CD in my truck (yes a CD), and I jammed it all day yesterday. I haven't listened to that much since the dark times right after I got sober. Early on in that struggle, that man's words lifted me. He wrote the lyrics to the first Audioslave album when he was fresh out of treatment. I didn't pay attention to their substance until it made sense to me with where I was in life. I didn't know how to pray then. Sometimes I still don't. Those words were my prayers and meditation everyday. He helped a lot of folks with his experience, strength, and hope. I don't know if he died sober, but it doesn't matter. In five days, God willing, I'll have two years clean and sober. That dude helped me along the way, and I've never met him. We all carry a message in life and in death. God bless him.

Holy shi7 !
That's horrible. The wife and I were talking recently about wanting to see him.
It sucks seeing your heros age and go.

Audioslave was his best stuff, imho.
Temple of the Dog was pretty unforgettable too.

You folks shouldn't be upset when someone dies though. That's just part of life and also it's nuts how we mourn the dead yet take the living for granted.

Maybe instead of being sad for someone that died (who is far better off now anyways finally escaping this place) - everyone should go and appreciate someone who's still alive and give them a reason to feel good about today?

I do anticipate my comment will be ignored...

The more this story takes shape the more tragic it becomes.

Michael Woody, a spokesman for the Detroit Police Department, told The Associated Press that were “basic things observed at the scene” that indicated a suicide. Citing local police sources, Detroit’s WXYZ reports that a bandmate found Cornell in his hotel room’s bathroom with something around his neck.

Throughout his life, Cornell suffered from severe depression and also battled addiction to drugs and alcohol.

consequenceofsound.net...

I can't imagine the high and lows of a life like he lead only to have it end this way.

I empathize with you guys, his voice and music is the backdrop of my life. Most memorably was Black Hole Sun way back when it was a buzzworthy video on the ol' MTV. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Candlebox etc never held a candle to the power in Soundgardens music at the time.

Cobain, Weiland, Cornell.... The founders of grunge all gone, none of which lived till retirement.
Sad day indeed.
It's weird how a musician whom most never meet in their lives can effect you so much in their passing.
I actually cried when Weiland was found dead. Earlier in his tour he played an intimate show in my small city. My wife and I were front stage directly in front of Scott and my wife yelled it's my bday. Weiland asked to see my id and told me I could sing dead and bloated with him during the encore. He bummed smokes off me throughout the show, wore my sunglasses and during his song circles, sat in a chair in front of me and my wife and said this was for us.

Amazing man filled with demons, like so many others from their time.
Rip to them all

TMZ is reporting is was likely a suicide.

5:34 AM PT -- TMZ has confirmed with police the family friend had to force his way into Cornell's room and found him with a band around his neck. We're told there was no blood, and police suspect suicide based on the scene.

I can't sympathize at all, to be honest.

Let's see here; he had tons of money, he could visit anywhere in the world he wanted, tens of thousands of beautiful women wanted him, everyone wants to be his friend, his art is appreciated by millions, he could have any car or home he wanted, he was incredibly famous, he had access to all the mental health help imaginable, people catered to him if he desired, he gets to be legendary, never goes hungry, etc etc etc. He wasn't facing any serious criminal charges, no one seemed to be suing him for everything, he could go become or do virtually anything he wanted to anywhere in the world.

If he committed suicide than he surely was a huge idiot. It's like he was unable to control his selfishness.
I cannot sympathize at all with him, if that's true that it was suicide.
He had everything. There's no reason to be depressed.

Now if it was murder or accidental drug overdose, well I can sympathize then.

But celebrities who own the world committing suicide?
It is contemptuous.

Indeed.

One of my all time favorite pics of him and Andy.
I think the last time I was this heartbroken was when Layne died.
Love you, Chris. You are missed already.

Just because somebody can have everything they want in the world doesn't mean they're happy if they do not feel at all connected to any of it.
