It may discourage future whistleblowers from coming forward, if they think they might be outed...even after death, for fear of any negative effects it might have on their surviving family members. So, unless there was a specific clause in their deal where Seth told Assange "after my death, you can release everything", or "x amount of time after I die", or "...you can releas x and y, but not z"...
