This is a good decision from Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein. After all, there are THREE SIMULTANEOUS investigations ongoing into how the mighty and powerful country of Russia affected our 2016 Presidential election. Hundreds of people have been working on this every day...for MONTHS.

""Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein doesn't find it necessary at this point to appoint a special prosecutor to probe Russia's interference in the presidential election, CNN reported Friday, citing sources familiar with his thinking.

One source told CNN that Rosenstein is unlikely to make a change unless the FBI investigation seems endangered. Rosenstein has reportedly vowed to lawmakers and staff that he plans to allow the bureau’s probe to keep operating free of White House pressures.

Democrats have called for a special prosecutor in the wake of President Trump on Tuesday firing FBI Director James Comey, who was leading the bureau's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Senate Minority Dick Whip Durbin (D-Ill.) said Friday that Rosenstein must either name a special prosecutor or resign.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, joined that call on Friday evening, arguing that “these investigations are far too important to risk disruption, delay or interference.""

QUESTION: What is the PRIMARY REASON for these 3 simultaneous investigations?

I thought it was ascertaining exactly how RUSSIA was able to affect our election. But many politicians and MSM outlets say that the primary thrust is uncovering collusion between Trump's people and Russian contacts. Some others say that the "unmasking" and "leaking" aspects are now center stage.

Since they utilize so many resources, it's probably best to start winding them down if nothing meaningful is uncovered by a certain date, don't cha think?

The Democrats think the population is stupid which is why they keep pushing this agenda.

They don't think we can think for ourselves so they are trying to undermine our election process by blaming the Russians for affecting the elections.

They don't want you thinking for yourself they don't want you casting your vote on good information they don't want you knowing about the corruption so to distract you from this they keep pointing the finger at Russia when in fact it is the average American who is sick of getting lied too.

Can't wait to see more petulance from democratic "leaders." The amount of crying they do when they don't get their way only pushes more people away from their party.

It is my hope that within the current political circus that we keep getting pushed back into the middle.

Follow the facts, wherever they lead is what they should do, it is their responsibility.

Great catch!

This development is very telling to me. This tells me that Mr. Rosenstein has had time to review the FBI case file on Russian involvement with the Trump campaign and meddling overall in the election process and found nothing actionable.

Not that I like partisan BS.

But the the Democrats gave Hillary special treatment, unfortunately setting the expectations for how our politicians are treated based on if their party affiliation matches that of those in charge.

I'm going to be honest, if Trump wants to look like the white horse he better ask for it himself. So far he looks like any politician I've seen.

Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) was back home here in Chicago today. Poor guy has aged 20 years since the election. He was expressing his confidence that a Special Prosecutor would be named to investigate the Trump-Russian collusion. Tonight he's probably 5 years older than he was at noon today.

I agree. Rosenstein should hold a press conference to specifically state why he will not appoint a Special Prosecutor. He needs to flat out tell the little Democrat brats, "NO! And that's final! Now, get back to work serving your constituents."

IMO, a Special Prosecutor would uncover no more than the FBI, Senate Committee, and House Committee have uncovered over the past 4 months...which is little of nothing.

All that time and all those resources and they still haven't been able to scrounge up evidence that any of trumps team were working with Russia. Flynn did not file some paperwork and lied to the VP, that is why he is gone. Comey is gone because he has found nothing, and wants more money to find more nothing.

Three investigations and all they show is Putin really disliked Hillary and tried to sabatage her campaign. That probably offset all the influence by contributions of other countries that donated to Clinton's campaign. She actually had help from other countries way more than trump did.

How long are they going to stretch out these investigations, four years? Well, at least our government is so consumed by this chaos that they have spent less money than they usually do.

A special prosecutor in any of these committees suggests these guys can't do their job.
I'm not ready to say that yet.
Not all democrats are going to want one.
I'm not ruling that action out but these guys have carried this ball this far, unless they are complete a-holes I trust they can honestly see it through.

If it starts looking like it's being shut down prematurely I will feel differently.

You have 2 branches of government exercising their respective authority. Congressional (House and Senate) investigations are occurring under their oversight authority.

The DOJ / FBI are conducting an investigation because that is their responsibility on the Criminal / civil / Counter Intelligence realm.

The Special prosecutor law that allowed Congress to appoint one lapsed so they can no longer do it on their own. Only the AG can initiate a special prosecutor / what have you.

The Democrats are coming dangerously close to interfering in an investigation on their own with their actions. While Congress has oversight authority they cannot really conduct criminal investigations. They still have to refer any criminal stuff to the DOJ for review / action.

Personally I feel the Democrats are pushing this in order to get info that they can leak out without context in order to distract Trump with their created bull#.

Grassley and Feinstein already stated Comey told them in a classified briefing that Trump is not the focus of any of these investigations. Its one of the reason Trump is so pissed. He knows he did nothing wrong, the FBI / DOJ / Intel committees know he has done nothing wrong, yet we still have leaks and media / Democrats saying Trump colluded with Russia.

If criminal activity with Trump was present it would have come out during the election. Instead all they had was collusion with t he Trump campaign and nothing to support it.

Democrats screwed themselves with this "resistance" bull# and pledges to essentially undermine Trump. If they continue doing this its going to blow up in the Democrats face (worse than it is now). They have to explain to the people why they went bat # crazy over something they knew was false and dragged it out to the midterms.

Or he was hired on to cover all this up.

I don't know this all starting to look like what happened with Nixon. All the firings, all the deflection and the tantrums coming from the President.

Thank-you for that detailed AND INFORMATIVE explanation, Xcathdra!

So, these 3 investigative bodies, are essentially duplicating each others efforts? Same guy/gal gets interviewed 3 times...sigh. That's efficient use of our taxpayer dollars isn't it.

I was listening to a Congressman the other day describing how they have 150,000 documents to review. There is a staff working on it, but it will take at least a year longer, assuming no NEW work is added to their pile!

Democrats are sabotaging their own chances of taking back Congress in 2018, or the Presidency in 2020. They are so focused on being anti-Trumpers, that they've forgotten all about WINNING an election.

This story?

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) asked FBI acting director Andrew McCabe about the possibility of illicit Russian money being laundered through overseas banks in connection with Trump associates, and the law enforcement official agreed federal investigators were also concerned about that.

“There’s a third camp, which is stuff I have been working on, is the organized crime,” Henry said. “This guy’s a mobster. He has all these dodgy business partners. He knew or should have known that they were involved in organized crime, money-laundering, racketeering. That’s pretty hard to deny. We see the people he’s been in business with. We see the deals over and over again. It’s in plain sight. That’s the theory I’ve been working on.”

No facts, just conjecture. They didn't bother quoting McCabe.

Because, all a Special Prosecutor will do is start from Hole #1 at the golf course. The other committees are already on hole #5. He'll just follow what they've already done. WHY?

From experience this year, I've learned that when there is an Anti-Trump story and it's a Democrat speaking, writing, or being quoted, to just ignore it totally. That's served me well, and saved a lot of time. They always turn out to be FAKE news.
