Definitely my favorite musical ever.
Nowadays called Ipi Ntombi, to correct some of the erstwhile isiZulu simplified grammar.
It was actually somewhat politically controversial at the time.
The South African liberation movements didn't approve in the 1970s and 1980s.
Firstly it was felt that the political oppression of blacks under apartheid was not sufficiently addressed, and many of the traditional folk songs
were attributed to white arrangers.
Nevertheless the music was immensely popular, and the positive legacies far outway the politics of the time.
Not only did it launch many black careers, but it put South Africa on the map, and united South Africans in mutual song and interest.
I think the later editions of the albums went some way to address past grievances.
High time we get another cast and full version.
It's an athletic feat though, and I'm actually not sure how many actors and actresses could still perform it nowadays.
