What we don't know is if there's a secret treaty between the Saudis and Israel in the event of the outbreak of war between Iran and either of them. If there is then WWIII could break out with an Israeli nuclear attack against Iran for attacking Saudi Arabia. Doubt is going to happen. The military will make up excuse to follow Saudi into battle with Iran. US has been antagonizing Iran for awhile. This is going to be the biggest cannon fodder in American military history.

Let them start their war vs each other in either country. If Europe gets lucky, perhaps their immigrants will leave to participate. Two birds with one stone. No love loss for Islam from me.

I look at middle eastern politics and I honestly cant figure out why they just cant get along.

The Saudis are quite possible America's greatest ally. They are the only thing that keeps the petro-dollar going (the only thing that props up the US economy). if you want to see the US fall into 3rd world hell-hole, keep pushing the division of the US-Saudi Arabia alliance.

The petrodollar and the ibn Saud family are two distinct and different things.

When the US acts it will be with self interest.

The Saudis may be destroyed before that happens.

The Iranians won't get the oil, that's a certainty.

Both sides are likely to have limited nuclear weapon stocks.

Neither is capable of a first strike that will prevent a similar response.

Two theocratic states with the means to badly damage each other.

"Allies" on either side that may not be trustworthy.

When the dust settles the petrodollar is likely to be safe.

The state of Israel will be safe too.

What could go wrong?

Maybe there is an intention inside the US government in order to push Saudies into a war with Iran the same that they pushed Saddam into a war with Iran. But this one would be a pure stupidity ! a disaster that may affect all the world. So I think this will not happen.

The amount of people here who are saying 'let them at each other' betrays an astonishing ignorance concerning the impact that middle-eastern issues have on the wider world.

Do you understand that the House of Saud has just agreed hundreds of billions of dollars worth of arms deals with the US?
Do you understand that the US can't lose the petro dollar until it militarily controls the middle-east and strategic parts of central asia to ensure continuing access to energy?
Do you understand that Iran is slapbang in the centre of a geographic nexus that provides access to Pakistan and every state in Russia's old sphere of influence including some of the richest gas fields in the world?

In reality, Iran has been a relatively advanced society for hundreds of years. It just so happened that the US wouldn't allow a secular nationalist to put the people of Iran first and so they ended up with the Islamic Revolution. That doesn't change that much of the population is educated, tolerant and outward-looking.

America's bosom buddies in Saudi Arabia literally rode out of the desert after making a deal to promote Islamic extremism and started building cities in tribal areas a few hundred years ago. Saudia Arabia has been a fascist state since its inception. Not only that but it has exported its ideology around the world.

Your government has been supporting a backward state that is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths across the world for decades. It continues to do so. It is clear that this Saudi Prince has been allowed to make overtures to war with Iran because Trump has promised to provide them with whatever they need.

On the end of this war (that WILL take place) there is only two possible outcomes.

Russia is cowed into accepting US and western domination of most of the world, including many areas that border its own land. Russia meekly accepts this and the world carries on without World War 3 fully taking off.

OR

Russia refuses to accept that the US and its allies should dominate the majority of the earth's resources and World War 3 happens. If you think US territory won't be affected by such a war you are gravely mistaken.

Just in case you think the first option is even slightly possible... be aware that it relies on the Saudis, Israel and Turkey being America's good little lapdogs. Two of them have already repeatedly proven that they have no interest in that role.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the majority of the United States and Europe will resemble a third world country within 20 years. Unless you are part of the controlling elite you should probably make some effort to stop this escalation. The least you can do is take with a pinch of salt the next 5 years of propaganda onslaught preparing you for the fact that we 'have to deal' with Iran.
