Should the Greeks have concentrated all of their time philosophizing instead of a few creating dramas and tragedies?

Another empire on the ash heap of History.

Ever read Platos Republic? When I comeback into the cave to free people from their chains, I'll remember to pass you by.

Cant tell if youre really Iconoclastic, or just a jaded anti-movie hipster.

Its just a movie, just because a trailer looks good its still fun to muse about the fictional universe its set in.

It doesnt mean someone needs to go outside more because they are interested in a fictional story.

You'll be an anecdote due to all of the kids that play COD and adapted to killing before they even found out how heavy a rifle is. I'm not afraid of any apocalypse. I'm not looking at "news" websites saying WAR, WAR, WAR... that's you. And if as much as I see your name come up, criticizing others for being online is pot calling the kettle black.

Well I can't wait to see this for free just to know I don't contribute to the egotistical small minded pockets of regurgitated thinking scriptwriters, statistic munching producers and back patting directors relying on cgi and big name overpaid actors.

The fact that this franchise is still being barfed out reinforces the fact that hollywood ran out of imagination decades ago.

Pathetic profit based production line that the ignorant keep feeding on while they drone to their 9 to 5's returning to their boxes to die infront of their goggleboxes or congregate in big screen parasitical churches. Don't forget to put a dollar in the hat of the homeless or hungry person slumped on the pavement outside.

Ask the same producers and directors to make something original and they would still return to the same old bunk while pretending they are doing something important in society.

Yawn, yawn.

synical...damn right. Try real life, it is much more ......but go ahead, lap it up and perpetuate the distraction.

I predict I will forget this movie about two minuites after the titles roll.

Flame me if you are shallow, I am past caring, and don't tell me to move along unless you cannot accept the opinion of a free thinker.

I never really got "into" the Alien movies. In fact, because I hadn't heard of it before, when I first started watching Prometheus on one of the cable movie channels, I didn't even know that it was part of that universe. I absolutely enjoyed Prometheus and I'm glad to see that the sequel takes place right where the last one left off.

As to the argument here as to whether or not movies (or entertainment in general) is a complete waste of time or not.....

I do acknowledge that some people take movies/TV a bit too seriously and some people have (in my opinion) and unhealthy obsession with, say, superheroes and grown men collecting little toy action figures...... but......

This is a rough world in general. There is plenty to worry about. There is the craziness in the global political scene. There is the nonsense here in the States. We all have some combination of worries about raising children, paying rent or a mortgage, stresses at work. The list can go on for miles.

That being said, it's not always easy to take a break from it all. If some people can momentarily suspend reality by watching a movie or watching a sporting event..... God bless 'em.

The Germans and Japanese weren't either. They ignored WWII, were kept distracted and or told to shut up , stop making anti war talk.

I don't drink either. How boring movies are today. But they serve their purpose. Do you even realize the psyop they are pushing behind 'Alien monsters from space'??

Never mind, go see it, get brainwashed.

I saw Alien in the cinema, it was pretty cool.

Prometheus is part of my slim BluRay collection, it's a good one. Not many new sci-fi there, with the notable exception of District 9.

Generally, there are few original concepts out there. Prometheus is an exception to the usual re-hash, and makes a good disc.

That's part of what I like about D-9, it is completely unique.

Sort of ironic for you to have a gif from Close Encounters as part of your sig.

Not at all.

You obviously haven't read or understood my post even though you quoted it. Or do you think Close Encounters of the third kind is a recent movie?

Yea, Spielberg is not Hollywood at all!

No, it's pretty simple: Tomorrow is the future of the past.

That's what irony is, not perceiving how dependent your statement is upon your own little perspective.

It could be more bluntly pointed out as a failure to assimilate new things.

It's all relative. Close Encounters could be perceived as comical to a younger person as very early sci-fi would be to you.

Writers and directors build upon the past, don't you think? Surely the modern masters of cinema are familiar with historic works at least as much as you are....no?

Rocky vs. Aliens in Monster Trucks, episode eight.

Whats the release date on this??? Im excited just at the thought of it being possible.

Covenant comes out next week I see, so I am going to take my two older sons, ten and 8 to go with me and watch it. They love badass sci-fi movies. Im going to buy a large popcorn and hree large drinks, and sneak in two double decker tacos from Taco bell like I usually do. Popcorn is for the boys. Two of the drinks I will just fill with water as I only like Pepsi soda which they do not vend at AMC Chinese owned theaters, and my oldest one drinks no soda at all. The third is for my eight year old. We are going to love this movie so much. After this, the next one on the list is IT remake.

I got no problem spending $50 to take a day out with me kids at the movies. It keeps me away from the internet and doubling down on the cynicism.

Its not a movie quote.

Its from a poem by Percy Byshe Shelley.
Im not certain of the title but its the one about Osimandius.
