When I was still engineering I used to say to the project manager, "as soon as the time machine is built we will make all the previous deadlines."

So assuming we've finally completed our construction of our time machine, what year would you choose for a destination and why?

I choose 1969, summer of love, nothing beats pre-AIDS sex!

To 2008 and put 100,000 at 400% leverage against the stockmarket

2019 I would then get a copy of all the information on the stock exchange over the last year or so return to this time and make a killing in the stock exchange also sports scores so I could gamble on them
knowing the outcome.

Back to when I was younger so I could help myself be better

I would also make a trip to the year 1,000,000 AD to see what sort of wacky things are happening on earth that far in the future.

id love to go back to the times when egpyt was at its pinnacle of power and see the pyramids being built along with their city centers and such. would also like to see how they moved those massive blocks at baalbek. theres really hundreds of places id like to see when they were in their prime. ive also had a morbid curiosity about how a massive battle would look when it was all generally hand to hand face to face combat.

It would depend if changing my past would make me vanish or not. If i could i'd go back to my birth and kidnap myself and teach myself about what i learned so far

I'd either go to Jekyll Island in 1910 with a machine gun or Kecksburg, PA in 1965 with a video recorder.

Are we assuming multi verse theory so temporal paradoxes are off the table for example if I go back and off my grandpa It will just create an alternate time line universe where I was never born or are we going by the idea that any alteration of the past would have drastic temporal consequences for the present?

I would wait until the Powerball reached a few hundred million go to the next drawing date find out the winning numbers then come back and buy a ticket.

Screw the stock market and all that crap, too much work.

What an interesting question! I would like to "visit" so many times in history to just take a peak. Alexander the Great, Jesus, IF there actually were an Atlantis, Jamestown, Lewis & Clark. I could come up with a hundred place in an hour or so. I don't care about the stock market stuff; I would just like to see history in the making and if it was at all like the books say it was. That would be utterly fascinating.

after some very exploratory and mind-stretching youthful years, I frequently get caught up wondering where I'd go if I could. I can never nail down a single place/time because everything before now is so damn exciting.
you know what ultimately brings me back to reality? the past stinks. literally. ancient Rome? no proper plumbing and no tp. Egypt? tons of sweat and middle eastern food. Greece? burning animals and oodles of sex. I imagine the far East probably had a better handle on the funk, but that's probably just because they don't discuss such things.
I wouldn't mind knowing who built the sphinx though.

That's much simpler then what I had in mind on second thought I might do this as well.

Assuming my time machine has life support and can go back to exactly where it left off, I guess I'd go back or forward five minutes and enjoy deep space.
