Ancient Aliens - Von Daniken Legacy

Just watched this episode of Ancient Aliens and really enjoyed it. Great background on the Ancient Astronaut viewpoint. Haven't read Chariots of the Gods (I see there is a DVD though, I'll watch that at a minimum)...and didn't realize it sold millions of copies back in the day. Do you think if such a book was published today it would get any traction or would it fall through the cracks?

If it was still a brand new idea it would get a lot of traction.

Actually, I think at the time he released it in 1968 there had already been a couple books like it that had already been published but were unknown. Even Carl Sagan had made pro statements about the concept. But once he was brought into the government fold and into the cover-up he could not defend his original statements that astronauts may had already been to earth. And when Von became famous for it Carl got jealous.

In support of the UFO cover-up, the government tried to keep him locked up but they could not and had to let him out of jail. In 1973 Spock aired his book on US television and it was also converted into a theatrical film. This was when Von D became super rich and popular.

You should read the book. It is basically a book of 200 questions, being mainly, was GOD an astronaut?

Most of the questions have never been answered and even the ones that people try to tell you were debunked really were not. These are still valid questions which have never been seriously answered.

Were the Moai walked into place, uphill or even downhill? There were no ropes as far as we can tell and in most cases they are buried 30 feet into the ground and may be much older than previously thought. Nazca? Probably not airfields at all but instead were aerial mining operations.

Just remember, it is all part of the UFO cover-up. The government cannot let you go around thinking that aliens were once on Earth because that would make it harder for them to tell us that they are not here now. And we cannot be allowed to think that now can we.

Yes absolutely, because people don't want to believe the real truth.

Yes absolutely, because people don't want to believe the real truth.

Truth is in the eye of the beholder. Just like beauty....and everything else.

I saw numerous episodes of AA years and years ago...and only recently started watching some of the more recent ones.

Truth is only as good as your experience and interpretation "engine."

Some episodes of AA are uninteresting to me / too speculative, some I agree with about 20%-50% (The rest is too speculative / I don't agree with based on my experience), a select few closer to 100%.

These more recent episodes of the last few seasons seem to be more refined....overall I accept the overall premise. I've seen enough documentaries, traveled to enough places, and had my own experiences with ETs / UFOs - and nothing can sway me from that. But, if you haven't traveled much, or seen a wide variety of docs, or had a personal experience...then I can see how skepticism would be strong.

"Where there is smoke, there is fire"....which is something die hard religious believers / atheists / any believer in a closed system have a hard time realizing...that's why we live in a blanket of many CULTures.... to see the "truth" must free ourselves from all CULTures...

I think I'll take you up on that suggestion....already put the video on hold at the library...will get the book. I can read a few questions.

You are intrigued by the out right lies and deceptions of a few
very smart intellectual academics who've become very rich by
basically deceiving their audience with an irresistible CON.

Ancient Aliens has a bad habit of distorting facts and avoiding counter-arguments that disagree with their conclusions. Occasionally they outright fabricate things. Von Daniken even confessed to lying back in 1977 in a BBC documentary, and claimed that it was merely the style of writing to mix fact and fiction.

It was a great read and almost entirely garbage. One man and his imagination in a world where almost nobody could double-check the contents.

The show is somewhat frustrating. Because everything is aliens.

The ancients were just as smart and innovative as we were.



You can do alot with very little. Just watch this guy.

the better question is why y'all in this forum spending your time debunking..... denying, etc...and some of you seem to have a lot of posts....do you spend your entire life behind a computer screen? might help to get out in the real world....

well anyway...apparently some can't read...because I speak from personal experience...and I said I didn't agree with everything / said it was too speculative. But y'all give your hand away cause you didn't read my earlier response!
