i think it's aimed at north korea so they don't get any ideas about more nuclear tests too close to china in the future.

Wrong. Look at their space program...they have been able to reach us since the 70's at latest

Exactly what I was thinking, if they are intercontinental then why move the missile?

You wouldn't as a rule you would move them away from a border you're expecting to have a conflict at. And DF 31 cant reach New york. the mod they did can so they have two missiles that can reach US soil. They are the DF 31-a and the DF estimated 24 and the DF 41 10 to 12 launchers, Supposedly have 20 DF-5s but these are mostly used against Russia. They hide them in caves and drag them out and fuel them before launch. DF 41s cant hit Russia believe it or not because its location will not allow three stages to ignite.

Now to my point China is outmatched were looking at about 35 missiles that can reach the US. This isnt a big enough number to overwhelm missile defense like Russia can do. China has less than 200 warheads including bombs. The US has 1900 usable and 4000 in stockpile. So China knows this they are not insane. So world war 3 is a while off yet and China isnt going to start it over North Korea
