Here's a heart warming story from Old Blighty. Police dog stabbed, but manages to pull through. Now retired and the family pet.

"Finn was stabbed trying to protect me," his handler PC Dave Wardell said.

The case of Finn prompted a petition to Parliament on the rights of police dogs and horses. Details of which can be below, if you are interested, plus a context link to the Hertfordshire Constabulary back last year after the stabbing. As to the person who did the stabbing - well a 16 year old was arrested and charged. On the law; well it was strengthened, proving that something else positive came out of this affair.

I recall the loss of the officer, and I also remember hearing about the k-9 unit vaguely before that.. has it really been that long now?
