like i said i found a gap in the whole Paranormal, Ghosts, UFOs and all that, i have found a major gap, and to me the things that are not out there and being money made of the back of, are the things we should look at, so i am going to go deeper into the rabbit hole that deals with astral projection, i would love if people could help me, i want to find out if any famous visionaries or the likes have speculated or flat out admitted to doing it, i remember reading the Einstein used to sit with a stone in his hand so when it fell when he started to doze of he could catch himself and project into the astral plain, dont know how much of that is true or accurate as im saying it off memory, but the thing that made me write this post is when i typed in Movies about astral projection and i only got 5 Hits, with all of them basically portraying it as dangerous and evil, that to me is very telling, i also get that if t were true, for example if i discovered it was true, i probably wouldn't be trying to convince people of something i knew as fact and could do whenever i wanted, here's the 5 movies that came up when i searched....
insidious 1 and 2 (2010 and 2013)
Psychic Killer (1975)
The blue man "eternal evil" (1985)
and Eden (1996)

now when i type in movies about Aliens a host of different results come up, so why would it only show me 5 on astral travel, and out of the 5 it looks like at least four of them would put you off the idea of astral travel...... it makes you think there are people deciding that only certain movies with certain messages are allowed to be put out there, i honestly cant get my head around why so little exposure on something, that you could sell many a movie of the back of.

i found this article that states Edison and Einstein etc.. did it.......... not a very good source though, i need more evidence!!

in5d.com...

Many believe Edgar Cayce entered into an out-of-body (OBE) state to obtain his healing insights. The famous inventor Thomas Edison used such a “mind awake-body asleep” state of consciousness to work on his many inventions. Edison would place a silver dollar on his head and sit in a chair with a metal bucket in his lap. If he drifted into sleep, the coin would fall into the bucket and restore his alertness.

Albert Einstein would enter into a hypnagogic state by sitting in a chair with his arms suspended over the side while holding a small smooth stone in each hand. If he fell to sleep he would drop the stones, waking himself. Artist Salvador Dali was said to use a similar method to gain the odd visions that inspired his paintings.

WHY would YOU want to have such an experience? Actually there’s is a very high probability you already have! Ever have the sensation of suddenly “falling” while asleep? This could have been a re-entry into your body following an involuntary OBE.

gonna look some more into DaVinci and others, Cheers

I not sure. I am not OBE type. I am extremely physical body bound.

It was a silver dollar and a brass spitoon. He did this while working on the Manhattan Project. If he fell asleep ,the coin would fall in the spitoon and wake him up.The project was under a short time limit

Misread sorry. Astral travel is phantasy, useless bs, that's why no one does it. Not a single one has ever accomplished anything during that.
Sensory deprivation and certain substances get better results and that's not very reliable too.
Keep searching for something better, with effect on realityjust friendly advice

i feel it is such a taboo subject, in a world they say nothing is taboo anymore, i have had certain "psychological" effects when trying it, if i could full blown do it, i would be able to verify if it was psychological or real.

Another example that is pure sci-fi is the recent movie based on the Marvell super-hero "Dr. Strange".

There are all sorts of "guides" on how to do it, and yes, I do believe it is a dangerous practice depending on ones surroundings.

There is no definitive answer on "What to do" just as there is no definitive answer on "What not to do" while Astral Projecting.

Google brought up whole loads of "How to" guides on the subject.

You are responsible for your own actions, and safety.

How about a search for something far more simple in the far out side? How many movies can you find where the simple act of meditation is treated with completeness and dignity such that the movie goer wants to learn the process?

Is it an organized aversion to some underlying human ability or simply that most humans exist in the physical, love materialism and see no value in mind stuff? Having suggested to many people in my years that they may find help in surviving common life if they were to indulge in meditation, I must say the answer is almost the exact same: "Oh, I can't do that."

I've never astral traveled, but I've experienced the "mind awake-body asleep state of consciousness" several times, maybe more. The reason I say maybe more is because the only reason I knew that I was experiencing it is because I heard myself snoring "off in the distance" while in deep thought, but I don't usually snore, so it could have happened many more times.

I have practiced deep thought meditation so much so that it has changed the very way that I dream: where I used to only dream in "visual adventure" dreams, now I dream of "myself thinking" - it's weird - but maybe more weird is that, sometimes, I wake up with answers. I mean, sometimes I'll remember what question I dreamed so it's cool but a lot of times it's answers to questions I don't remember dreaming.

Maybe what deep thought does to your dreams is the origin of the expression, "I'll sleep on it"?

Edit: Sorry, I didn't make point clear. My point was that maybe "mind awake-body asleep state of consciousness" is a way to access astral travel but, in my experience, they're separate things. (I've experienced the one thing but never the other.)

The movie 'Flatliners' is another that touches on this topic. It is about a group of medical students who perform near death experiences. It gets a bit dark and crazy near the end of the movie.

As for just what is going on with the astral, dream, OBE is a bit hazy. Some of the stories on the alien agenda does include things like spiritual harvesting and transplants. Things like Dissociative Identity Disorder are other risks if you do try to separate the mind / body connection too hard. For everyone venturing into the unknown, proceed with caution.

Hello Laddie- (Working on My Scottish brogue for My Sept. Scotland trip.. The War Dep't. has gotten hooked on "Outlander" now I've got to go along for some castle tours.. Did it sound okay?)

In Your research did You ever come across the contention that Edison ripped off Tesla? And Edison got the accolades due to the fact His "invention" could be monetized?

As it relates to 'Astral Travel' Did You come across A.T. in Peru via using 'Ayahuasca'?

lol well that would depend on where you were going in Scotland, Up North and hello Laddie is fine. Whereas if it was the castle in my Town you were visiting you would be better with an "awrite mate"
yes i have read all about Tesla and Edison, and i have seen a few docu's on Ayahuasca.

my avatar is a Tesla saying, its miniscule because i didn't know how to make the saying bigger lol, but a great saying...
"The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power."

Nah, I'm with the "you're not supposed to be doing that" crowd. As a kid, I had a neighbor who supposedly practiced it and warned of the danger of being "disconnected", or so the story was told (I didn't hear it first hand but from one of her friends). The way he said that she described it was that it was like you had a tether that could become disconnected if you were out of body too long, and not only that, but, while you were out, it was like leaving the door open to possession. Basically, it's okay to travel in the spirit but not okay to travel in the body unless you're in your own body.
