Trump implicitly and underhandedly ascribed a celebrity endorsement of Mar-a-Lago to Chinese Prez

Earlier, you had Kelly Anne Conway being accused of a federal ethics violation for promoting Ivanka Trump’s product lines on national television. This was very explicit, right up front, and not especially underhanded.

A federal employee shall not use his public office for his own private gain, for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise.

What Trump has been up to is quite different from what Kellyanne Conway did and was masked and sly.

He’s been lending Presidential panache to his own golf courses simply by visiting them (at our great expense), and the press coverage that he gets from these visits serves as free publicity and TV commercials for those golf courses, all on the taxpayers dime (millions actually).

But Trump recently went way over the top.

He had a meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort where they each had a slice of chocolate cake. During press coverage of this meeting, Trump went on and on about how the cake was the most beautiful chocolate cake that you ever did see, and he stressed how President Xi Jinping enjoyed it.

NOW, WAIT A DOGONE MINUTE!

If The Donald had been commenting on a dessert served at a White House state dinner, then this, I guess, would be perfectly acceptable, BUT THE DONALD WAS BRAGGING ON HIS OWN CAKE OFFERING ASSOCIATED WITH ONE OF HIS ASSETS, Mar-a-Lago, and to say the that President Jinping enjoyed the cake put an implicit commercial endorsement of Mar-a-Lago and its cake right into the mouth of a foreign dignitary.

Uh, oh! If I were the Prez of China, I’d demand an immediate retraction of that account by The Donald, and We The People should demand an impeachment of Trump for his brazen attempt to slip one past us, that one being an egregious ethics code violation.

Does the brazen nerve of The Donald know no limits?

With all the crazy things going on, I fail to see cake and said endorsement thereof on my radar at this particular time.

Quibbling over such trivialities is a waste of time.

I like delicious chocolate cake too.

It's getting to the point where the desperation of the Left is truly pathetic. Maybe in their minds they think they can "catch" President Trump at something so illegal that POOF! -- all of a sudden Bill Clinton's wife will be president after all.

Of course, that's not going to happen.

I simply don't understand it... It's a borderline mass hysteria among the left. Thankfully they're a small minority of the electorate (25% according to Gallup).

This is not trivial.

This goes to the heart and soul of Trump's mentality.

He is known to be obsessive/compulsive about the use of self-promoting superlatives, to wit, the most beautiful, beautiful chocolate cake... you should have seen the guy enjoying it.

Anyway, if you had seen the interview in which Trump praised his resort's chocolate cake, you'd have noticed that he spoke in a guarded way being careful not to praise and promote Mar-a-Lago directly.

Oh, that guy is crafty. Trump knew that he couldn't say that President Xi Jinping enjoyed Mar-a-Lago, so Trump slipped in the implicit endorsement by fixating on the chocolate cake.

No matter how much money it costs to accommodate Trump & Family, no matter how many rounds of golf he plays, no matter how much cake he eats -- Bill Clinton's cross-eyed, diaper-filling, convulsing, unaccomplished, inept, lying, corrupt, drunken grifter of a wife will NEVER be president.

Instead, all you leftists out there can enjoy the GOP House, GOP Senate, and best of all -- what will almost certainly be a 7 - 2 conservative Trump Supreme Court for the next 25 years or so (not to mention the 100+ Federal Court seats he's in the process of filling) thus eliminating the last entrenched vestige of power the Left had in this country.

So go back to whining about "cake". I'm sure that will change all of the above...
