Nostradamus was not a prophet. He was just a wise man with a flare for the dramatic and a charming and compelling manner. Per his own words he intentionally scrambled the quatrains to prevent anyone from knowing what they meant. Personally I believe they meant nothing to begin with. For anyone to say they understand them or figured them out is wishful thinking at best.
I consider him a precursor to today's palm readers. Start with grossly vague information and slowly get more precise based on reactions from the subject.
