Seems pretty apparent what happened to me...

Assad pulled a fast one and cut Putin off at the knees by hiding and using some chemical weapons. Russia pulled out when they found out (Russia has been all over that base). Putin let Trump know they were clear. Trump kicked the snot out of Assad's airbase and weapons storage. Putin probably called up Assad afterward and told him not to ever pull a stunt like that again or he'll let ISIS have his head.

Win-win-win.

Next!

Way to go TRUMP!

Agreed! We're defiantly on the winning team striking down all the rouge country's of the world. Trump is obviously the best man for the job. Even Putin (Vladimir) runs from Da Trump!

Next we should mop of North Korea and Iraq and Irann and Berlin and probably other places like in the pacific ocean where china is starting to make a noise and then we can take Manchuria and establish USA as #1 again just as Trump promised!!

If we are to believe that Putin really is an ally of Assad, then Putin has to respond to these strikes. If he doesn't, then it sets a precedent and shows Russia to be soft where America is involved.

Kremlin response: 'significant damage to US-Russia ties'

In its first public response to the airstrikes, the Kremlin has issued a strong statement condemning the US move as “aggression against a sovereign nation”.

Moscow said the strikes had been carried out on an “invented pretext” and claimed the Syrian army did not have chemical weapons.

The strikes, it said, would do “significant damage to US-Russia ties” and created a “serious obstacle” to creating an international coalition to defeat Isis.

Russian president Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin said, views the strikes as an attempt to deflect world attention from civilian deaths in Iraq – where at least 150 people died in a series of coalition airstrikes in Mosul last month.

That's a stupid idea.

Iraq are your allies, war with North Korea would be ruinous, Berlin? What has Berlin done?

Oh, don't attack Iran either, they literally haven't done anything.

If Russia didn't respond with their air defences and jammers then Putin has lost this round imo.
Syria is the one place Russia could go military and not whine to the UN.

No, it just shows Syria wasn't playing by the rules and they got spanked.

Putin doesn't look bad at all. He stepped out of the way. If he hadn't, he'd have had the chemical attack on his head. Smart move on Putin's part.

Is Russia-Kremlin implying that THEY are the ones who killed civilians with chemical weapons this week?

So Russia has nothing. Nothing.

Trump just made them look weak on the world stage and he just showed American strength and backed our red lines for all future countries to note.

Last I checked Russia's position was that the chemicals were in terrorist possession and the building that contained them was bombed leading to the outrage.

Simple mans view from the bottom of the world here. The door is open to all sorts of # now . super powers and little powers are going to war,not right now,but this is a test from the big boys to the allies to do a muster check. The big boys will throw a few Biffs and the younger fellas behind the bike shed will rush in,and lose the most face. I guarantee you, trump will do something to nk,and have at it there too. Its almost like Germany again, fighting on two fronts, which way to look?. I'm glad we are at the are end if the world down here.

You're overlooking my point...how did an air asset (most likely an airforce TACP or JTAC) on the ground know to film that exact strike?? IF 'professionally' filmed I could see it as Intel gathering, in which aircraft identification would be included as well making it a slam dunk. However, it isn't. IF it's amateur footage, how in the F# did they know????
