I have one theory, maybe they were not so much interested in what trump was doing but someone close to him was under suspicion of something seriously bad, it honestly would not surprise me due to the type of people trump surrounds himself with. The man has shown time and again he has no compunction on who he helps so long as they agree to help him and his business.
