What do invested interests have to gain for caring? Nill to none, it's been used up, a thrown away "banana republic". It's horrid, no doubt, where do these people have to turn? Sure many will try to escape, some fallen into human trafficking and many sadly will not be accepted anywhere due to country's having their problems with citizens and much more.

This is when a people have a duty to right the mess of their own country. Is it ugly? Yes, but in the end, the ruling junta only have power because the downtrodden allow it one way or the other. There are far more of them than their are rulers.

Hugo Chavez did the same thing that Maduro has been doing, I covered this and translated the statements made by Chavez in the forums. Since the beginning people like myself were stating that this was going to lead Venezuela down the same road that Cuba went through, yet many claimed this was not so. Heck, Chavez himself told Venezuelans that they should endorse and embrace the Cuban form of "socialism/communism" because Venezuela was going down the same path. Not to mention that Chavez stated that for him fidel castro was not only a friend but a mentor. Who sees a socialist/communist dictator not only as a friend, but as a mentor?

What are you talking about?... Venezuela didn't get an embargo from the U.S., and Cuba's problems were not caused by the U.S. embargo... Cuba had relations and trade with Canada, South America and many European nations, and it didn't help regular Cubans... As for Venezuela... It was Chavez who imposed sanctions on businesses in Venezuela...
Not to mention that while Chavez ordered government institutions to store tons, and tons of food Venezuelans were going hungry...

Tons, and tons of food were found by government employees in government warehouses being left to rot while the people in Venezuela went and are going hungry.

The problems of Cuba and Venezuela were not, and are not the U.S., but the "rationing" that socialism imposes on their own people, and the "redistribution" that happens under socialism.

If you think socialism works so well go to Venezuela and live as a regular Venezuelan does... Heck, if you want I can talk to family members in Cuba to trade your place and see how you like "socialism so much".

Cuba embargoed themselves.

Castro had placed a ban on foreign vehicle imports, making it nearly impossible to buy a brand-new, foreign-made vehicle. It also made it difficult to buy new parts and fuel for the old-school American cars Cuba is known for.
