Prey tell, does it speak volumes of you, or volumes of what you are assuming of me???

AND is it the part that speaks of "pride" or of "Poor Richard"?

Verily, not having aqainted poor Richard, nor assumptions of you, I use observations of your original statement in my post. No offense to you.

I am glad my extraction of 'ole Ben Franklin amused you.

Well, I don't care who this offends. This story is so rich with cannon fodder I feel like I've just taken Bunker Hill.

I'm going to sum up all the racing thoughts I have on this with: these two idiots are what we call "ignorant white trash" down here. She was probably also smoking a cigarette and passing the Wild Turkey back and forth between her and the hubby (who was probably wearing what my son's generation calls a "wife-beater"..we called them muscle shirts), while driving the car with her dirty-brown knees...and listening to Hank Williams Jr.

Furthermore...nah, forget it. This is too easy.

Valhall- being from the the State of NC where this term is readily used to describe people i take great offence to it. What more are you going to say that the husband had a mullet? BTW i have many friends that would fit into one or many of those areas and are some of the nicest and well mannered people. Althought they lack somethings they make up for it with pride in themselves that keeps them above those that are to ignorant to see past their clothes/appearence. Please as William always says think before you post.

I am not trying to defend these people that are obviously very strange in their dealings wiht their child, but to stop that generalization that i find to be offensive.

So you are saying that because you have friends that would:

drive with a baby hanging off one tit
while smoking a cigarrette
and drinking cheap whiskey
and not cleaning their knees good...

I should not say anything lest I offend you.

FORGET IT!

Here's an idea! You have your friends!!! And I'll have my opinions!!!

And you think about it before you dick with me, ok?

Hmmmmmm, Val?
The phrase 'white trash' is akin to any racial reference in the negative- bad. I asked you 'where down there' out of curiousity due to the use of that phrase in your post. It is a southern U.S. original yes?

No what i was saying was that your comments about clothing was uneccesarry. Also the sterotype as well. And if you want we will start the dicking but in the end it would not be worth the effort that i would have to expend to finish you.

Valhall is neither a northerner - most likely by the grace of God - nor one that brings more than she can eat.

Okay, so we have two people submitting two things that have offended them:

1.) "white trash" - stated to be akin to a racial reference in the negative. That's rich. First of all, just because YOU have decided to take that term that way, doesn't make it officially so. Second, yet another person who has spent too much time in an environment where people of thin-skin stifle others by their mere squealing. But for your sake, Tyriffic, let's say "northern trash" and see if it works out better for you.

2.) t-shirts - this seems to have been of the greatest concern to ninja. The reference to t-shirts. I'm not real sure why, maybe he wears one and I hit too close to home. But I think he's probably doing a great disservice to a lot of really good NC people by even connecting the state with the picture I had drawn (which by the way was supposed to be taken IN SUM. I don't think all muscle shirt guys beat their wives or endanger their kids, but I think the percent would be higher than the general population of males. Nor do I think all Wild Turkey drinkers postion their babies squarely in the most dangerous position in the car - that being the space between the drivers chest and the steering wheel. So, IN SUM...this is what I picture. I'm still seeing it.)

3.) dickin' around - sorry you haven't heard that phrase before; now you have. See how your world expands when you let others speak? hmmm This a VERY useful phrase.

I have made no secret on this board where I live. I do not live in "the south"...and God must have known better than to plant me north of the Macon-Dixon line.

And I'll throw in one more for you. With as ignorant as this woman was, and as negligent of the safety of her child (because that's exactly it. She put her own comfort and timeline ahead of a decision to do the right thing. She could have stopped. She could have pumped. She could stay off the highway a little more often...but she chose none of the above.) She stated herself that of course she didn't take her seatbelt off, that would be unsafe. And then followed that with an even more assisinine statement that the baby had only been unrestrained a little while...not like it was rolling around in the floorboard for 7 hours. GOOD DEAL ACCIDENTS DON'T HAPPEN IN 'LITTLE WHILE' TIME FRAMES...HUH? Then her husband states that nursing would extend the ride by 2 hours! So we can assume that the baby, on any given roadtrip, could be onrestrained... clamped between his "mother's" chest and the steering wheel for up to 2 hours!

I hope the state child protective services monitor her...because she's that stupid, she's that negligent and daddy has proven he is too!

well, Valhall, - you've pretty much made this discussion useless. Do you have anything constructive to add? Because what you have said really isn't discussion, at all.

I guess the good thing about this story is this 'loophole' will be filled and it can hopefully become illegal for the driver to do what she did.

I have something useful to say.

I agree with you. I believe something good will come from this. At least I'm hoping that.

and I'm serious.

Well I agree with Magestica on this one: theres noway that woman should have carried on driving while BF her child!

She could have done damage to herself/baby, not alone anyone else she might have hit. what if she had had a blow-out on a tyre, doesnt bare thinking about does it!

You know, after reading Bob's post I was through with this for now, but you make some very uninformed and ignorant assumptions about me and 'northerners'. I try not to be petty, but your words are and so seems you Val. If I seem to be thin skinned when confronted by a hateful individual as your self, then thank God for this!
And by the way, it's 1907hrs where I live and you still suck.

this reminds me of an episode of Married With Children. it's the one where Al tries to kick a lady out of his shoe store for breastfeeding, and as soon as he leaves he pulls out an issue of Big 'Uns and starts reading. then Marcy comes in to read him the riot act over kicking the woman out, and Al says something to the effect of "you don't take care of bodily functions in public. you don't see me peeing in public, do you?" then Marcy reminds him that the side of her garage is public

I guess this whole episode proves that life imitates art. or people are nuts. or both

this woman's trial started yesterday. It's been getting a decent amount of local press (just wanted to make an update since I remember discussing this here)

Here's a google news search, (take your pick). CLICK HERE

Some points about this story that are 'ATS'ish'
- The whole mess has some underlying church/state issues.
- The couple belongs to a religious sect that has a dim view of the Federal government (don't we all?)
- They are 'married' yet have no marriage license (the defendant's husband, in one report stated, 'how many Amish have marriages licenses?' (good point, really)
- They have no drivers licenses or SSN #'s
