Also if he has another one tell him to be confident and not afraid. Being confident and fearless is the most important part of having an OBE. If you are afraid, you will create a scary environment like demons attacking, or monsters, or war, but if you are confident and fearless and understand that you have complete mental power over everything in your environment you will be able to explore that reality and your own consciousness endlessly.

I've experienced a lot of that myself. It sounds exactly like what has happened to me. I believe in Christ and use prayer. These days tho, I take it as a chance to explore the astral realm, but I have encountered demons there too. So faith in Christ and prayer is my advice. John 3:16 and 1John1:9.

i see what your saying. However he said he was scared afterwards. If he knows nothing can hurt him and he can control everything with thought it should help.
Even if you get to scared you just snap back into your body, nothing to worry about.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I do think it revolves around his being tired. He's very active in sports and has always required a lot of sleep. As far as faith, I know it's cliche but we are more spiritual than religious. Sleep apnea does frighten me and I think that is something I will bring up with his pediatrician...weird to think he still has a pediatrician as big as he is!
I told him I wrote about his experience. Of course, he was a bit embarrassed because people might think he was crazy! But, I was able to ask him some more questions without his having so much fear. He said when he thought he was dying, he looked around to see if there was a tunnel or anything!! There wasn't but that was very heart-tugging for me. He, also, said that the sleep paralysis had started occurring more often and he felt like he was levitating and buzzing. This, he said, had started some months back, after ACL surgery. I don't know if that's an added medical issue or not.
Just keeping an open but interested mind!
