To all the eco idiots out there that think oil is the Great Satan, why don't you just do your part and quit using anything related to fossil fuels?

Do your part eco idiots, anything to do with oil, cut it out from your life, see how long you can last.

Sabotaging Americas energy infrastructure is not the answer, it is an act of terrorism and I hope those that get caught find themselves in a dark cell for a long time.

Source

Authorit ies in South Dakota and Iowa confirmed Tuesday that someone apparently used a torch to burn a hole through empty sections of the pipeline at aboveground shut-off valve sites.

Remember that last year a group of extremists, while declaring solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and the #NoDAPL movement, shut off pipeline valves in four states (Washington, Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota). That was a big deal. Those pipelines have a capacity amounting to about 15 percent of daily U.S. oil consumption.

Remember, these people aren’t hoping for the safe, responsible development and transport of oil resources. They’re fundamentally anti-oil. They think we should stop producing it, even as they and every other American citizen uses oil daily. Even though ending oil use would, in the absent of viable alternatives, would mean a serious reduction in the quality of life for people across the globe.

The likelihood of them giving up oil? Ha! That's like asking Decaprio and Gore to give up their private jets and helicopters!! Not going to happen!!

This action confuses me. If the whole reason for protesting the pipeline was because of the environmental impact it could cause if oil leaked, wouldn't cutting holes in the pipe defeat that by allowing oil to shoot out of it? Or is this done to keep the oil from running in the first place?

I'll just quote from the article. The pipeline is empty now but if the hole hadn't been discovered before they started pumping oil thru the pipe, it would have been a spill.

Why would these extremists be pulling these stunts? Why are they doing things that make pipeline leaks and explosions more possible?

Because they want the pipelines to leak. To prove how dangerous they are, I guess.

All they’re really proving is how dangerous the rabid green movement has become.

Remember, these people aren’t hoping for the safe, responsible development and transport of oil resources. They’re fundamentally anti-oil. They think we should stop producing it, even as they and every other American citizen uses oil daily. This is a movement divorced from reality.

Thats some challenge. The problem isn't the consumer, its mega oil corporations.

They have constructed a world made of oil for everyone to wallow in. Plastics, asphalt, fuel, natural gas, coal, fertilizer, everything runs on it.

Yaaay (cough)

You can be against fossil fuel and still use it while pushing for green energy. If I could afford a Tesla I'd buy a couple but for now I have to use my combustion engine vehicles for a little while longer. It's really economics for most of us.

There's nothing wrong with pushing us towards renewable energy. Keeping in mind that 1 or 2 guys with a blowtorch doesn't represent everyone that want's green/renewable energy. LOL

I will take that as a yes, you support the eco terrorism.

You prove my point perfectly.

Nothing logical or rational to add, pure emotion.

People like you will take this society back to the dark ages.

You don't have a point, just misdirected anger and a lack of understanding. Here's a thought, next time you create a thread try to refrain from calling people idiots, even if you think you have a cute spin on the word "idiot".

Or go away, whether it's your choice or not.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

Go chain yourself to a pipeline.

What don't I get?

Fossil fuels are the main cause of pollution and our meddling in the middle east killing thousands of our service men and women. They're also expensive. Solar is free, wind is free...I'm not sure what I'm not getting. Please enlighten me. LOL

Take more than a forum post if you think that wind and solar energy are free.

Literally everything you touch has it's roots in fossil fuels.

Turn off the taps today and millions die.

You agree with terroristic acts on Americas infrastructure, thats fine, it's your opinion, not mine.

But it doesn't have to be black and white like that. Electric cars are already changing with Tesla. Ten years ago we all knew we couldn't have an electric car that was fast or cool. Solar panels are battery storage are getting smaller and less expensive every year. We don't need to turn off the taps all at once, we just need to start moving in that direction more than we are.

I don't want to send my kids for another war so that the Bush family and friends can get rich again.

Solar is free, wind is free...

Not quite.

Photovoltaic solar uses doped silicon wafers that are pretty expensive, and the production of these high-purity wafers is seriously polluting. They also need backup, either from fossil fuels or batteries. The batteries' manufacturing process produces massive amounts of toxic metal waste.

Wind technology relies heavily on plastics to get the strength and low density needed for efficient turbine blades and housings. Those plastics are made from oil.

Here's what you're not getting: oil is used for more than gasoline. A typical refinery will produce gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, lubricating oils, and tar for mixing asphalt. Some also produce weights that are used to make plastics as I mentioned above. Cut off the oil supply and not only will the traffic stop, but store shelves in large cities will empty after 3 days, there can be no more road construction/repair, the next iPhone will be ten times as thick and 5 times as heavy because it will have an aluminum case, and practically all industry will stop due to a lack of lubricating oil.

I want to move from fossil fuels as well... but I want to move to a good alternative, not to a cave.

I'm sad to say I'm not surprised.

When the Dakota Pipeline issue arose, I felt sympathy for the protesters. I kept hearing about 'sacred land' being taken from reservations, and I am very sympathetic to native Indian proples... maybe because I partly is one.

But a little research showed that the pipeline isn't going through the reservation. It is going next to one corner of a disputed section of land. There are no sacred lands being disturbed. It's all a bunch of hooey, hyped by people who apparently can't understand how a pipeline even works, have no comprehension of ecology, like to litter wherever they go, have no respect for wildlife, and now it seems are, yes, domestic terrorists who would gladly destroy the ecology to get their way.

I support a person's right to dump tea into a harbor bust up some pipeline if that is how they wish to fight their fight.
