With the authority to sign the bill into law or veto it, the President has a lot of say in the process and the fact is Trump was promoting this plan as what he wanted.

The problem is that the bill wasn't any good. It was a less efficient form of what we already have.

Congress Makes Laws . The President can Agree or Disagree with them at his own Discretion . The Republicans had 7 YEARS to Figure out a Replacement for Obamacare . In that Time , they could not come up with an Alternative that would Lower the Cost of Healthcare to the Consumer Because........>? Political Influence from the Insurance Lobby and the Pharmisutical Lobby ? The Total Indifference of the Democratic Party to Even Consider a Replacement for a Failed Bill ? Division within the Republican Party between the Libertarians and the Rhinos ? Take your Pick , it All added up to a Doomed Bill from the Get Go .

How many years is America away from enacting a compassionate single-payer health care system? It will happen, because it has to. It is the only model that actually works reasonably fairly.

No, not really.

So in the mid term you are ok with poor people dying?

Are you saying poor people aren't dying now with Obamacare?

That's a straw man. I don't interpret welfare as money from the government but as well-being and have you actually read any Zinn?

Which part is the straw man, the apparent lack of historical context or reference to Zinn?

As for reading the man, only in small quantities. I prefer facts over agenda-driven distortion.

The Establishment once again proving their contempt for the American people. They know Americans want Obamacare repealed,

Really?? which Americans are those?? surely you don't mean the majority that want it fixed rather than repeal it or those who would opt for a public option or universal healthcare.

It's amazing how the majority of Americans supported full repeal up until the end of 2016, then in January they started supporting the ACA. Even more amazing, most of the 2017 polls were conducted by PPP, CBS, CNN, NBC...

Meh, no President gets everything he wants. Unless I'm mistaken and Obama managed to close Gitmo...

Anyways, Ryan's bill was terrible. It was hastily drawn up, which shows that the main GOP really wasn't too serious about getting rid of the unaffordable apathy dictate.

Especially not by creating an even yet more unaffordable sympathy token measure bill.

And you don't see or hear ANY of the Republicans feeling bad about it either. That's because they were all against candidate Trump, and they still haven't embraced him as their leader, now that he's President.

That's why there was no euphoria after President Trump won. The Democrat leaders were FAR more angry and hurt from losing, than Republican leaders were happy, for winning.

So the Republican majority passed 60-odd bills over the past 6 years to dismantle Obamacare and now, when it really counts (and they have a Republican President, the Senate AND Congress), they choke? Mmmmm hmmm.

Pathetic, isn't it. Trump and the GOP are absolute jokes.

He said he would repeal and replace obanacare on day one. Yet another fail from the moron in charge.

As far as I know, Obama couldn't shut gitmo because of republican opposition. Might be wrong about that though.
